If you look at the top right hand corner of your screen right now you'll see a link marked downloads. You'll find the original hurt man rescue fall there along with the reason he got flustered and screwed up.

"C'mon, cut-it cut-it cut-it!" And he did.

Yep I always work up the pole with the attitude the job takes what it takes when you rush thats when accidents happen. I just can't get over the guy playing Tarzan, he has obviously been at it for a while as there are linesman and fireman there why did they not de-energise the circuits? He had no intention of coming down. I can recall Zapman wanting to use a hot stick to "remove";) a cat from the top a pole but there was alot of people around.

I am flabergasted at the pole top rescue!

This is about as ineffecient as possible!

C'mon! tag lines on the hurt guy so the "rescuer" can climb past him?

Not to mention, it assumes you will have groundhelp.

If you include all the cutaways, I'll bet this took at least 5 min.

Looked like millitary, if so, no suprise there.

Thanks for sharing this link, I will show it to some real linemen who will laugh their asses off!

If you EVER see this guy coming to get me, put me out of my misery and shoot me!

That dummies burns would have healed before he got him down. They must have a scewed version of what a lineman is to be proud enough of those videos to post them, DAMN.

I think that one guy beat the dummy to the ground, CUT IT!

Funny shit though.

It’s the first pole top rescue I’ve seen where the dummy die’s of boredom.

I nearly died of boredom waiting for him to get the dummy down.

We practice poletop rescue and tower rescue with a live "victim". The casualty can choose how helpful he wishes to be. Some of us just hang like we're dead. I prefer to play dead until about half way down, then throw in the confused, hurt, punchy guy routine. It only works once a year though.

The thing I did wonder about in that clip tho' is this. The guy gets up the pole and ties a rope around the pole to put a carabiner on. Why not use a sling? Done in no time. The stupidest thing to me though was the fact that the guy takes the lowering rope off of his belt and attached it to the dummy. Then later he puts the rope through the crab. Why not the other way around. He looked like a right "fumble fingers" up there. If he'd dropped the rope before getting it on the dummy, dummies screwed until he goes back down for the rope.

I thought the soundtrack was better than the rescue, we use ladders here and you cannot work on anything live unless you have a pole top rescue kit already set up. Whats the time limit on passing pole top rescue over there? Ours is 2minutes and if all goes well the patient can be on the ground in 1 minute...

Good to know you guys are actively pursuing defibrillators (AED's) in the Perth area too.

I've got a picture here that is so mortally sad that it drives home the importance of having on site AED's with every crew working live. I've had the picture for a while, but have never posted it to this site because it really is disturbing and could upset many who have lost a relative or lover to linework.

they stress to us brain damage starts close to 3 min. with out oxygen to the brain. So under 3 min. is the mark we shoot for. Usually the average I've seen is 1 to 1-1/2 min. And that time is stops when the lineman performing the rescue is back on the ground. We are required to have a qualified man with tools ready any time we have to go in the allys and work off the pole. The type of rescue shown in this video is absolutely the most stupid useless waste of time Ive seen in 28 years.

Dont come down the same way you went up!
