HAYDEN, Idaho -- A 23-year-old north Idaho utility worker has died after being electrocuted while working near Coeur d'Alene.

Jake Booth had worked for the Kootenai Electric Cooperative since 2005.

Authorities say the accident happened Tuesday as Booth was helping place a power pole.

He leaves behind a wife and infant son.

Kootenai Electric Cooperative investigators have joined officers from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department who are trying to figure out what went wrong.

Sounds like a lack of rubbergoods, another potential case for difibulators on the truck. As with any accident we will proabably never know the exact details. Go with God Jacob Booth.

HAYDEN, Idaho. - A Kootenai Electric Cooperative employee died Tuesday after being electrocuted while working south of Coeur d'Alene.

Kootenai County dispatch was notified shortly before 11:00 this morning that Jacob Booth, 23, had been electrocuted on a job site near the intersection of Cougar Gulch and Lynx Trail. Other employees performed CPR on Booth until emergency crews arrived, but he could not be revived.

Police say workers were setting a power pole in the ground when the pole came in contact with live wires. The electric charge traveled down the pole and struck Booth. Sheriff's Department investigators have ruled this as an accidental death.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragedy," said Robert Crump, General Manager of Kootenai Electric Cooperative. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and our employees during this difficult time."

Booth is survived by his wife and newborn son.
