My crew and I were working a major storm one night in San Mateo Ca. TV news people were stopping by to talk to crews, trying to get a story on when the power would be restored.
We had made repairs and were ready to energize when the television crew showed up. (these were the days when a crew could talk to the media) I thought real quick how we could look really good.
My lineman was going to close an air switch that was in site of where I was with the TV crew. I told him to close the switch when I raised my arm.
The TV crew was talking to me and I watched my lineman climb the pole (this is pre bucket times) and get set to close the switch.
As I was interviewed by the TV crew in the dark, I said "Let There Be Light" and raised my arm. My lineman closed the switch, and all of a sudden there was life again in the city. The TV crew was amazed, and said it would be on the 11 O'Clock news.
We took our meal break, and watched the news in the restaurant. It was amazing and we all laughed. Great show of our talents.
