Hey guys,

I work on the generation side as a control room operator. I'm wanting out and looking for something else to do. No dispatching as I'm just sick of the shift work. I was thinking about the substations as I have allready had a little training there, and switching is done on a daily basis in the plants up to 4160V and only once or twice a year on the 230kV. So I'm looking for training specifically for substations and only found one place teaching maintenance on them at this website. http://www.avotraining.com/
For those allready working would this be a waste of money to take this course? Does anyone know of a reputable place I could take the training without having to switch jobs or companies? My current plant is being bought out by a public utitlity and they are getting ready to strike so taking the training in house is out of the question. Any advice from you guys would be appreciated.
