What do the republicans here think of what they are trying to do in Wisconsin?
The problem in the rural states is all the elected officials each county is supporting. Each county is supporting and maintenance of a court house. Elects and pays a treasure, clerk assessor and so on. If four counties combined it would cheapen the cost of a court house and paying elected officials. Seems like when the budgets get out of kilt they always look at the working hourly people. Wisconsin is typical with having to many freeloaders living off of the working man in the government system. I feel any one that works middle management for any state should be cut down to 30 or less hours a week with no benefits.
Hey the guy that started this thread has not made another post.... what's up with that?
Oh yeah... you did a great job hi-jacking the Famous Canadian thread....:D
I was curios what the republicans think, my opinion is if you are having problems busting the union is not the answer, maybe just have to negotiate better. I also think that if they do not have enough money just hitting the middle class is not the answer. I try not to get to involved in your politics, but it is interesting too follow.
I don't like the union busting tactic. I do however believe that Michigan will soon follow suit, state's have created too much debt to put on taxpayers. And in Michigan, with the numbers of people leaving the state, who are you going to get to pay? If the state unions don't realize that they are going to have to change, they will lose support from the folks that work at the gas station, the grocery and hardware store. Those folks that clean their homes and offices, the mechanic that works on the family car, the waitress and bartenders, are not going to have much empathy for those who don't pay anything for their health care and have been getting 3.5% raises for the past several years.
Swimp quote
When I was overseas, the company matched 6%, of what I put into my OWN retirement fund.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------You know in addition to their co. retirement PSO had a 6% match thing. It was called a 401 K. The people who had been there like 30 years or better had some serious money tied up in those. I heard of plenty that had 800 K or better. Now this was just among the peons and I never heard what the management pukes had. I never heard of any of the peons cracking a million but some may have by now.
You could contribute more than 6%, but of course the co. would only match up to 6. Damn Swimp you went all the way to Saudi and you could have had the same benefit in the USA. What a dumb butt.
The retirement there and the 401 K were not negotiable items.
Course I was jist a working hand and didn't get to tell 3rd world dudes how to
frame an upset bolt. Did they have wood poles? Just a curious thought that hit me. Don't mean to upset the subject.
You small minded man....so filled with hatred and venom for anything union, anything "working man".....so filled will blind adoration for anything "anti-democrat" pro big business and pro bullshit!
It seems to me that the union brotherhood.......has some "unlikely" brothers and sisters......medical professionals(and i do stress the word professional)
I have spoken to several doctors in this area in the past months and they are disgusted by the "strong arm" tactics of employers being repeated on employees in today's world......and are not afraid to vocalize that disgust.
I assume that the public employees view this assault as "a war"(as would I), a war against not only them, but on what they have earned, a war against their families, and a blatant attempt to divide the working class, while achieving the goal of breaking off the "leg" or unionism....public or private....because this will not STOP with the public employees.
I have heard it said....."all is fair in love and war".....so I see nothing wrong with them using any resource available to fight this atrosity.
As for the students.....I can think of no better lesson to teach those old enough to understand that this is "real life".....a life that will impact them in the future.......as the working man is continually trampled on by the ones that hold the power and wealth. This is "no trip to the mall", this is no picnic, this is no game........this warrants a cry to "fight the good fight"....old, young, woman, man, union and non........The only prerequisite is to "care about the middle class" in this country in 2011 and protect its existence for future years...from those who care nothing for it.
Hopefully his Mom neutered him and his wife has him believing it is his......:D
Actually I think he is pimping and working his daughter!
You have made it clear from your many many posts that you not believe in unions in way shape or form and your hatred of organized labor shines brilliantly through your cloud of bull$hit.
As for your statement that only private sector should be union as the taxpayers pay the public sector employees......I assume you then believe that there is no corruption from those over the public sector employees......no one above these working people that abuse their power.......that is almost laughable to me....and bottom line........with your kind of thinking......my customers pay me.......for without customers my company would not be in existence.......you see sir......bottom line is the consumers make all our jobs and benefits possible......you act like this is a unique situation....These men and women work and earn their money....so as a taxpayer in PA whose taxes go to pay for the public sector employees......I dont have a problem with it at all........I'd rather my taxes pay them than politicians who work to screw the middle class.
So we will see who the middle class sides with...........working people or a$$hole politicians. Their benefits are better than mine and I dont care, I will not turn my back on union brothers and sisters..........that is called "brotherhood"......and I live it.
Gee you think all the anti union sentiment will cost the GOP votes come election time? All the Union workers who are Obama haters out there in government jobs are finnally seeing the guns trained on them. I see it in the IBEW. Its amazing how many union paying members are staunch republicans:confused:All those workers who negotiated their retirement and medical benifits in lew of pay raises every contract, even though wadges were better in the private sector are now realizing it all could be gone tommorow. God forbid we cut military spending and forign aid. Tax breaks for corporation outsourcing. No wonder tax revenue dried up! With so many unemployed there's not enough of us paying payroll taxes. Too bad most working stiffs are busy watching dancing with the stars and american idol to give a $hit.
Swamp..........I am pretty sure That Freaking jerk Walker did not run on the platform that he was going to go into the "union busting" business......he may have stated that he was going to reduce spending.....but......I wonder how many thought it was on the backs of the working class.
Is your vision so tunneled that you cannot see the bigger picture here? Put on your thinking cap.....for once.......reason this out. I will help you.....
This is not about spending.....this is about union busting and the destruction of "collective bargaining" a right that was won through years and years of suffering, battling, and even bloodshed. A just cause that was fought and won....I dont care if you are public or private sector.....you silly sob......This will start a change in this country that will rock the American worker to the core. It declares Corporate America the winner and gives them the right to do ANYTHING to the hard working employees of this country, take anything they want away, give nothing more to us, we will all(union and non) be at the mercy of the corrupt and unethical greed that manifests itself in corporate America, with no weapon(no matter how ignoreed) to fight back....and dont you dare tell me this disease will not spread to the private sector. Of course I cannot expect you to grasp the concept of caring about anyone other than yourself.....being a self declared union hater......we know where your loyalty lies.
I hope that rotten SOB Walker rots in hell when he is dead and gone.....and I think it is time for the private sector unions to gear up and get ready for a fight........as I said this is the destruction of all we hold near and dear to our hearts...and we should be standing in defense of our brothers and sisters in the public sector....do not let these scum bags divide the working class.....the old "they get more than we do" syndrome.
I am going to call an organizer friend of mine and see what we can do "show our support."
oh and Swamprat......in case I forgot to tell you..........YOU SUCK!
Just got off the phone...........I am asking all you union guys......the AFL CIO is asking that we wear the color "red" on Tuesdays in support of the public sector employees in Wisconsin.....I know we have to wear FR.....but a red arm band, bandana etc when we are not doing hot work would fit the mold.
Seems some officers of my local are flying to Wisconsin tomorrow in support of the "workers under siege"......wish I had known.....would be there with them..........
Spread the word Steve.......it is time to stop this disease.
Well said CL! The sad part is I know IBEW members who trash their own union and support the political party thats determined to destroy organized labor in every sector.
How about the teachers and government unions pay for a portion of their benefits like other unions do? How in the world do you think is paying for the state employee pensions and insurance. It is EVERYONE THAT PAYS TAXES. Every person in a state that pays has tax, pays for those benefits. I pay for a portion of my insurance, I believe I should. It was bargained for long ago, we got a substantial pay increase to do it. With states running deficits everywhere across this country, who do you think is going to pay? Everyone! Not just the rich, not just the middle-class. The poor will pay because they will lose government subsidies when states start cutting. I know it's an overused phrase, but really, Do The Math!
It is my understanding that the teachers offered to negotiate(which is their legal right) with a$$wipe Walker and he stated he was not interested in negotiating with them....he is only interested in union busting in my opinion...........so we can all get ready to "ride the wave"......
Smith...You hit the nail on the head......
"So considering the hay day of unions also coincided with the war vets good paying jobs with good benefits and great retirement funds why would so many BBs be anti-union?? You seem to me to be so Duckhunter. Why do you want the standard of living eroded even more????"
I am perplexed by that question too? Have people fallen for what "Corporate America and Corporate Media" have shoved down our throat? That we should "consider ourselves lucky to even have a job?" like someone is out there doing us a favor, for nothing......out of the kindness of their heart. WE(not them) keep this country running. We pay these corrupt politicians salaries also....where is the outrage over the salaries and perks of these a$$hole politicians? This is a strategic attempt to divide(and conquer) the middle class. Teachers DO contribute to their healthcare and reitirement.....my sister-in-law is a teacher. WTF? It may not be as much as I(we) do....but I dont care. I believe the teachers are willing to make concessions(as I have seen when they are interviewed on the news) but that is not this man's goal. this is far bigger than the teachers in Wisconsin. This ties in with this "Right to Work" bs making a grand comeback. I think all the politicians who are crying about state shortfalls should take a substantial cut in pay, forego health insurance and forego a pension plan too.......(they will still be fine with all the kickbacks they get from special interest groups out there)...but I have not heard one offer of that.......and I am talking Democrats too.
You wanna fix this country....you make the same damn concessions you are asking the working class to make...you low life scum bags:mad:
Yes, that is corporate America's mantra when they try to justify these top execs pays.....If you want the best.....you have to pay for the best.......i guess that only counts if you are one of those corporations who are buying politicians like Walker.......
not us "peons"
ps ....it is a kid's nature to hate teachers:).....and lets be real......there are some bad ones out there......but there are rotten apples in every profession..........it is a fact when you deal with Hu-MANS.
That bean counter from Milwaukee is going to regret his Darth Vader tactics.....
Do the Math! Who is going to pay for it? EVERYONE!
You can play your little game all you want. I'm more of a man than you will ever be. Like I told you in a post a few weeks back. I'm a utility lineman. What you think has very little significance to me.
Like I've said before. What A PUTZ!
Do the Math! Who is going to pay for it? EVERYONE!
I said, I pay a portion, I don't pay for it all.I don't care how tall of pole or tower you've climbed in the past. It doesn't make you anything to me. You are still a close-minded boar.
By the way, you say that you type in caps and bold so that you can read. How do you make out anything anyone else types?
What a putz!
The events in Wisconsin are not about budgets. They are about power and control.
Little known fact: Gov. Walker exempted 3 public unions from his assault on unionism including the firemen's, trooper's, and police unions.....betcha can't guess which 3 unions endorsed his election? This is about payback.
Little known fact: The unions have stipulated the compensation cuts Gov. Walker has proposed without losing the right to collective bargaining.....of course that wasn't good enough. This is about payback.
Little known fact: Wisconsin's public unionized workers, when their education levels are considered (the vast majority are college educated teachers, public defenders, etc.), make 60% less than their private sector counterparts. This is about payback.

One important fact being lost in the cacophony is this fact: The more angry the working class people remain with each other, the less anger is placed where it rightfully belongs-- at Wall St., CEO's, Politicians, and Bankers who got our economy into the shape it's in.:mad::mad::mad:
This should be about paying back THOSE WHO DESERVE PAYBACK!!!!!!
Sacred Cows, I am tired of the REC’s getting government low interest loans. Do the math….this is a drain on the taxpayers and they should have to compete as investor owned utilities. I am tired of the low population rural areas getting Federal aid for high ways that are low traveled, these monies need to be spent where the population is at. Do the math…..it is costing the American tax payers lots of money to support the rural areas.
Do the math.
Boomer you are absolutely correct.......and if this MF Walker wants a war.....he is gonna get one........They will not divide the working class.....we see through this ploy.....those of us that are not into bringing "the standard of living down" but would rather concentrate on bringing the standard of living up FOR ALL. we see through it at least. This is farce, and it is all about breaking the union.....From the talk I had with my linemen brothers this morning...their opinion is "BRING IT walker" same as mine......we will all be dressed in red tomorrow in support of our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin.....The AFL-CIO wants photos to post to show support to the Wisconsin Public employees....If you want to show your support.....one person or twenty.......snap a photo and PM me for the internet address if you dont already have it. Like I said....dont any of you kid yourself......this will not stop here if we do not fight it....It is time to show these politicians that "unionism" is not dead......some may have been "slumbering" for a while, but they now have our full and undivided attention. This truly is the good fight, and I implore you all to join in.....if you want to continue to have a voice in the workplace....Also now is the time to get active in your local.......a union is only as good as its members......you dont like what is going on.....work to make it "your union" a union you can be proud of....dont badmouth it........show the world what a union member believes and will fight for.
Sorry for the rant.....but I guess you have noticed I am fired up.....as are my union brothers..........I speak for them also.
I am speaking for the families that will lose there homes and properties at the tax auction. Because they will be forced to compensate wages and benefits in the government sector that have been ballooning out of control for years.
BUST THEM DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a little more math!!!! I wonder if this is part of the problem!
WASHINGTON | Tue Aug 12, 2008 12:54pm EDT
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Most U.S. and foreign corporations doing business in the United States avoid paying any federal income taxes, despite trillions of dollars worth of sales, a government study released on Tuesday said.
The Government Accountability Office said 72 percent of all foreign corporations and about 57 percent of U.S. companies doing business in the United States paid no federal income taxes for at least one year between 1998 and 2005.
More than half of foreign companies and about 42 percent of U.S. companies paid no U.S. income taxes for two or more years in that period, the report said.
During that time corporate sales in the United States totaled $2.5 trillion, according to Democratic Sens. Carl Levin of Michigan and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, who requested the GAO study.
The report did not name any companies. The GAO said corporations escaped paying federal income taxes for a variety of reasons including operating losses, tax credits and an ability to use transactions within the company to shift income to low tax countries.
With the U.S. budget deficit this year running close to the record $413 billion that was set in 2004 and projected to hit a record $486 billion next year, lawmakers are looking to plug holes in the U.S. tax code and generate more revenues.
Dorgan in a statement called the report "a shocking indictment of the current tax system." Levin said it made clear that "too many corporations are using tax trickery to send their profits overseas and avoid paying their fair share in the United States."
The study showed about 28 percent of large foreign corporations, those with more than $250 million in assets, doing business in the United States paid no federal income taxes in 2005 despite $372 billion in gross receipts, the senators said. About 25 percent of the largest U.S. companies paid no federal income taxes in 2005 despite $1.1 trillion in gross sales that year, they said.

and here is a little more math
"What's happening in Wisconsin is not complicated. At the beginning of this year, the state was on course to end 2011 with a budget surplus of $120 million. As Ezra Klein explained, newly elected GOP Governor Scott Walker then " signed two business tax breaks and a conservative health-care policy experiment that lowers overall tax revenues (among other things). The new legislation was not offset, and it turned a surplus into a deficit." (Update: please see this note for more detail on the cause of the budget gap.)
Walker then used the deficit he'd created as the justification for assaulting his state's public employees. He used a law cooked up by a right-wing advocacy group called the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC likes to fly beneath the radar, but I described the organization in a 2005 article as "the connective tissue that links state legislators with right-wing think tanks, leading anti-tax activists and corporate money." Similar laws are on the table in Ohio and Indiana."
the police and firefighters who backed walker just joined the protest in Madison......there is a live stream at

wow........brotherhood and sisterhood....a sight to behold
