Default What do I expect when joining the IBEW and working for a contractor?

I currently work for a municipality as a linesman and was looking at joining the IBEW and working for a contractor. What kind of work life style is in the contractor side of it? Just looking for some insight on what to expect before I make the jump, if anyone could help?
