    Default BC jobs

Hydro pays about $38 hr, not bad beneifits, pension. Areas currently available are north, Fort Saint John, Valemount, Bella colla and some in Vancouver and areas. If your rubber glove trained get ready for a surprise, they don't use gloves for line line work only sticks. All live line work 25 and up is all done with sticks, zero class 3 work with gloves, no closing cutouts off poles, from ground or bucket truck only. They will fly you out, interview the snot out you, send you for skill assesment to their training school, then send you home to await your evaluation. The hydro guy that I have talked to and met like Hydro except that they have been getting boned on the wages the last couple of years, thank you olympics.

The Contractors are screaming for Linemen and pay top dollar, unfortunatly your on the road and work every where they want you, Alteck and Artic are supposed to be the better contractors to work for.

    Good luck

    Default Bella Coola

If you are a hermit Bella Coola would fit just fine.
Otherwise keep looking if you want to avoid a culture shock.

How about staying in Ontario? I'm with Black and Macdonald. We have 3 to 4 years work ahead in the Toronto area alone. Good work too. Or wind farms or there is more utility work around southern Ontario.

Black and Mac is Ibew 353. If you call and haggle a little you might get a perk or two. As for Hydro One, its a good gig, BUT, you will get laid off late in the fall, and you won't see job calls again until March at least. Plus the pension and benefits are better with 353
