Does anyone know what happened here. We have someone who paid the ultimate price and no lessons learned. Everyone agrees that he was well qualified. All we hear in the field are rumors and stories. If someone knows what happen and how we can prevent it could they share the information? No finger pointing or guesses just the facts. The information might save some other well qualified person from paying the same price.
Thanks
They were rebuilding a line . Had old conductor on hot arms . It was deenergized . Had 6 or 7 span loose and hanging low enough for the deceased to reach . He pulled the conductor down and had it under his arm when the old conductor contacted the new energized conductor .
My sincerest condolences to this man's family and to the line brothers he worked with. May God watch over them and help them through this hard time!

This is very sad. With todays training and todays safety rules I don't understand all these people getting hurt/killed! He had the wire under his arm? WTF?

Thanks for the information. It is very sad to see how easy it is in this trade to get hurt. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. I will print this out and take it to my show up. We are working distribution and could do the same thing. We have been told to wear our gloves and sleeves while doing this but the foreman thinks we are little girls when we do.
