ummmmmm lf you wannabook get the Lineman and cablemans handbook by kurtz
First off thanks for the great website and advice for us wanna-be's!
I will applying to the Missouri Valley JATC program for a second time hopefully around February. I am currently ranked 43 after a year waiting. I got my class A license just last month to help my score on my next interview. I have been considering buying a book, The fieldguide for powerlineman, and maybe get some general knowledge. Has anyone read this book or think it will help? Also has anyone had any luck finding an internship after completing line school?
Thanks for the help.

Poot has a good suggestion.
When I was teaching we used this book:
Electrical Essentials for Powerline Workers Book
They are pricy but very informative.
Good luck

Thanks, I will look into both of those.
Any other tips that will give me an edge on my competition? Also are there any other JATC programs in the midwest I can look into besides my local unions, which is only low voltage.
Here is a tip. Have a clean driving record, pass your drug and alcohol tests, and don't have any convictions or felonies on your record. Or you can kiss a good chance good bye.
Good luck
