Has anyone seen attached tool used while installing tapered straight armor rods that twist on with two twist tools?

I wish I could help, but I have never seen that tool or even know what it is used for.

Me too.

Never saw anything like that. I'd sure bet it's for use on Transmission though. Looks Way too big for distribution. Looks like that tool fits on a hotstick.

Don't really understand your discription of "Tapered Armor Rod". I've installedd quite a bit of Armor rod on distribution. Most of it like this.

Never installed Armor rod either.

I have used that tool when putting on rod on energized conductor with sticks. But the one in this picture someone has modified with a piece of a metal cross arm brace. For what reason I can't imagine. The original attachment worked great to snap in the rod.

That piece of metal has stamped on it 4/0 acsr or STD , I have seen two of them and have one in my possession that is just like the one in the picture, in the box it also has a two twist tools that u would use to install straight armor rods that are just straight pieces of aluminum that has a slightly bigger middle and tapers to a point on each end. The two tools twist the rods around the wire forming them, two linemen would use two sticks if hot and could use the tool without steicks if not hot. How did you use the tool to install armor rods?
