Heres the question....when you guys have a storm and it knocks out a few of your circuits, how fast does the utility or company that supplies the electricity respond if they also have their circuits out due to the same storm.Do they get on it at a reasonable time period or is it a waiting game.....theirs first and yours second?

When I worked for a small muni (same as a co-op) we were fed by New England Power and were listed as one customer on their outage screen. Even thought we had 4,000 customers! The good thing was we were on the same highline as their customers so we got picked up at the same time. But I don't think I answered your question. Or did I?

Up until hurricane Isabel (2003) Dominion Power classified our delivery points the same as a large shopping center. Another words a single large commercial account so they would get us on before they started working individual residences but after they had all mainlines on. Now in some cases we are along their mainline so they would get us in reasonable other times not so much.
Anyway after Isabel the State Corporation Commission (our utility regulator) held hearings about all utilities performance. Multiple Cooperatives took great Joy in pointing out with dates, times and SCADA records all of Dominion's lies about when they restored service. After that the Cooperative Delivery Points have been moved up on Dominion's priority list. We now get treated the same as thier Substations in priority, in fact once a year I have to update Dominion on the number of consumers out of each of my stations.
