Pike has the problem common to many contractors, they have a few good crew leaders (foremen, Lead lineman, pick your title), a large number of average crew leaders, and some that never should have been called a lineman, much less a crew leader. Most of the time for routine work they are okay, but if your working storm trouble, doublecheck EVERYTHING YOURSELF. This applies especially to lines isolated, tested and grounded. I don't care what someone tells you if you can't see the ground on both sides or on the pole your working it doesn't exist.

I love posts like this.
Married? Single?....Lookin for WHAT? A contractor? A Utility Job?...WTF....
Yeah...Read Thrashers Post.
Contractors nowdays are basically all the same
Pike? Irby? Meyers?................So many others...All bout the same...as thrasher said
You a Lineman? Do some fcukin Research. Obviously, you know how to use the internet.
The area you are lookin is Prime Pike and Irby territory.
If ya got tools, and can prove by your work and "talk" you're a Lineman in a week on the job...you'll do fine with any contractor.
simple as that.
Union? Not so much.....

The good things I have heard is the guy that runs it started at the very bottom. So he know what B'S is. They are getting contracts left and right so that means there safety record is probably like everyone elses or better. Bad thing they are non union. And they were bought by some Bain Capital type wall street firm who think they are smarter than everyone else. Thats when the good hands I have worked with left. They own their own equipment fab company. So their equipment is always top shape. And utilities are starting to replace their workforce with Pike, especially the states where union is non existent. Because they are cheaper. I have no clue what their training is. I have no clue what there pay is. One thing I learned is all it depends on the individuals you work with, not the company. You could work with the worst company with your vehicles held together with bungee cords. If you can have a good time, take care of eachother, and get work done than its a good company.

Well....I wouldn't go THAT far bobbo, but I get your drift.
Pike is a Good Contractor to work for. It is what it is. If they are the main Contractor for Duke Power...they must be doin something Right.

I was coming home from storm and watched Elliot blow by me. Their equipment is brand new. Our crews trucks looked like a bunch of turd rustbuckets compared to theirs. They were out of Roanoke across from New River. They were union but I dont think anymore. I heard they moved to Lexington KY. All there trucks were brand new. And there were some older hands. If they got older hands, its a good sign that there is some experience .

Seem to be generally located in the south East.
Ran into a few of their crews on Storm in the Carolinas years back.
