 got a call yesterday " BREN ....THE FIBRES BROKEN ". Heart skipped a beat. ( thought we,d broken it whilst installing the line ) ....
NO ! They broke it while putting it into the fibre optic insulated canister ..... Phew !

They have already jointed the next section so we can't pull slack through. So we have to take down 18 span of wire and replace it.

Hope the jointer was insured..

Picture of the canister below.

Tell them they just need to pick up the cost of another joint and get them to fined the break then price them for the couple of span piece-in,wid be cheaper than doing the full 18span again.b.t.w what company doin the splicing?

Not as easy as that Paul... They broke it the line side of the canister. "NO SLACK" only option is to replace the 18 span.
There is a section mid section that could be jointed at but our company and Scotish power want it re strung as per the original design ... It would save 7 spans of re stringing ... But wouldn't save a lot of time..
We can use the old wire to pull in the new.

Not sure of the name of the jointing company... ( the usual WHITE VAN hired in company.. )
