Did ,or do you guys have overtime worked posted on your wall.Im under the impression that all unionized utilities were required to do so.Im not asking about how much you have seen if you had it posted, but Im going to ask if there were always a guy or two that had something like 80 to 100 hours every year.We had that here, the same guy would have ,lets say 55 hour of 1.5 and 40 hrs of double......this might sound wierd, but I dont know how they done it.............:( that amount isnt much for a year ..every year.

That ain't $h!t. We have to make something like 75% of our call outs. Y'all must not have a duty week or something. Although we have a few guys like that lol...somehow

Union shop, ot hrs not posted. Rotating ot list, you want it you take it. One "on call" crew per shop. They're called first........

The 75% figure is fimiliar....got so bad they expected you to be available while on vacation,a day off....they held it against you for that kind of stuff.....they never bothered the guy with those 80-90 hrs per year.....hell he was always on a vacation the way I see it :D

Before we got an automated call out system, each service center set up their own call out system. Some had red time, some you called the lowest guy first , some rotated each week.

I remember we had a guy who was always on the top of the ot list, yet he also had the most sick time. . . .never could figure out how he pulled that off but he did. He had so much sick time he would get threatened about being absent, yet when the ot list came out there he was on the very top? Go figure.

I knew one guy that wouldnt go home...he worked the 4-12 shift...didnt really matter what time he got off...he would stay at the center and listen to the radio on his off time...if something came up he would call the dispatchers and wind up working again, not really fair to the duty crews....but nothing was ever done about it.

In this case it was pure greed....lets say its your duty week,so you hang around the house in case something comes up....a little extra money wont hurt cause x-mas in right around the corner.....dont worry, you wont be called.....Mr.Greeds X-mas is more important.

Most Utilities are using an automated call out system now. The only time we post is for Holiday stand-bys or an ongoing project that involves extended days.

Seen that before....were we sit and choose holidays, they go down the list and you say yes or no and so on.....But...........when the holiday comes up some guys change their mind and ask a friend to work it......cant do that, lets go back to the list and see whose turn it really is...I could make this really confusing , but I wont.

You know what I love?... When you need people to stay late or some blood money comes up on a weekend job the room is quiet. But Lord help us if its holiday stand-by or a gravy outage every douche from 10 miles around is screaming 'I'm low'. Even better we have a few what we call 'pick &choose' that think they can only work the aforementioned and double! Where did this sense of entitlement come from?

I feel your pain and that's a little excessive, but how do you effect the hours they get? Don't take this the wrong way, but your an apprentice right, not a skill or craft. They should be placing like for like. An apprentice shouldn't take a JY spot. When you are asked to work it would be because they need the extra hands. Example, our foreman will ask for 2 head linemen, 2 JY, 1 apprentice if need be, and at least one helper. Also, most jobs are denoted by saying I need 4 skilled for an outage etc. helpers and app's are normally support. Feel free to elaborate maybe I'm not understanding your situation.

I can say that the old company was fair to all...helper,apprentice,Jy....thats was how you learned.Never had that problem as an apprentice....something aint sounding right here....can it be greed?

Our Union requires that OT be posted. What bothers me the most is that so many others that have no business knowing get to see it too. Lightman

Same here lightman, some people didnt have no business knowing....Also we sometimes had sheets of other service centers overtime....sometimes we had access to 5...6 or 7 different centers....you could see exactally the amounts other lineman at different locations had...we never had the info on all 16 centers....it was kind of like somebody didnt want us to see them all, saying that when we did have that info it would always disappear after a week or so........Mr.Greed worked at another location, but you could bet he was always on top.

Where is this taking place? And is there any specific language in the CBA that sets this practice? If not, talk to your steward about it, if the steward is "in on it" talk to your Business Manager. You should not be threatened by another member when the employer offers you OT, that's BS, we're all here for the money and it ain't a popularity contest!,,,

I have to wonder if the guy your talking about is still working at the same place,Id bet he isnt,Iknow the type..........I once met a guy that was in the same hotel that I was staying at,different room and different floor...we worked together....he wasnt what Id call a friend, but he was a fairly good worker....I said fairly good. Now I would take him to the barn cause he didnt own a vehicle....I let him know right off the bat that he needed to meet me in the lobby every morning before leaving.Well he wanted to test me out,I think he wanted me to call his room and wake him up.....well that wasnt going to happen,so I would leave work without him until he learned.......Well this guy had major money problems....borrowed from me 5 dollars........hell borrowed from everyone....I made sure he paid me back.....Cant say that for the other guys, everyone that I talked to told me that they lent him money.....10 here 20 there ,50 here 90 there....some lent him more......One foreman told me that he owed him something like 260 dollars.....well I asked the foreman.....you do know that he is leaving tommorow dont you......The foreman was going to bring him to the airport to fly out.....I told the foreman that Id get my money first.....Well I think he realized that he wasnt going to get his money and that to get rid of the guy would be worth it......where the guy winded up is beyond me....but Im sure wherever it was the first thing he asked was if he could borrow some money. :nightmare:
