And...YOU live in Texas! Pittiful.
I walked into my gunshop 3 weeks ago, and said,
"Ya got a Glock 30"?
Once she determined WHICH Glock 30 I was lookin for...the Glock 30 S.....I said...
"yeah, that's it! I'll take it! Listen...I got to meet this guy for lunch, here's my concealed Carry Card....What else ya need?"
"Your signature here she said, I'll fill in the rest for ya, I have all the other info."
Came back 2 hours later, and picked up my New Glock 30 S.
Having a Concealed Weapons Permit...at least in Florida...is a good thing. You got one of those Poot?
Without a concealed weapons Permit...here in FloriDUH...You gotta wait 3 days to buy a gun. You never would have bought that Shotgun for your Grandson in one day.
Did you have to wait 3 days in Texas to buy your Grandson's gun?

When did the 3 day wait start in Fl for anything other than a handgun? I just bought another rifle about 2 months ago and there was no 3 day wait, same old background check and I was outta there with the rifle in about an hour.

Reppy:
I don't know what you are talking about with Federal Government shutdown. In Virginia a carry permit is issued thru the locality with a check against the State Police Data base. So the fact that the Feds shutdown means precisly nothing for getting a background check for a carry permit or getting a check for the purchase of a firearm at any dealer. Don't know how they do things in your state.
I think I've mentioned this before but here it's about impossible to get a Full Carry permit. The wait for a premise or target permit (handgun only) is 6-8 Months.
Buying a shotgun or rifle is still allowed (for now), no 3 day waiting period. They do the background check. Last shotgun I bought took about a half hour.

Sorry, you're right. I was talkin about handguns and just forgot I walked out the same day with an AK years back.
I have to ask, what is wrong with a background check? I would think there are some people who should not be able to own a firearm, at least I know there is up here.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them. I think they sometimes are uncomprehensive. But our NSA is changing that. They are collecting ALL Kinds of new personal information on Americans, so hopefully the background checks will get better.
I also don't think there is Anything wrong with having to show a Photo ID when you go to Vote.
Do you guys have to show a photo Id to vote Lewy? How about Buy a gun. Buy a gun? Vote?
Important things that should require verification of who you are.
Here in 'merica? Voting? Not so much.....

It was approximately 30 minutes to get my last gun. Springfield 9mm. Of course I have a Washington State CWP. :D

We don't have to show photo ID to vote, as far as buying a gun it has been a while. I have a shotgun and a rifle and with our system the last time I checked which was a while ago you had to have either a POL ( possession only) or a PAL (possession and acquisition licence). Either involved a police check ahead of time, I thought it was crazy that you were safe enough to own your guns, but if you didn't spend the extra money you couldn't by more guns.

Was that a 9mm XD, or XDS? I'm thinkin you'd go with the XD. My new Glock 30S in .45 has 11 Rounds, and I think it's about the same size as an XD. But in 9mm.....You should be packin a lot more rounds. My buddy got the XD 40, and that thing has 13 Rounds.
Interesting story with the Glock 30 S .45.
http://americanhandgunner.com/the-glock-30s/
It was designed specifically for the L.A.P.D. S.I.S Unit back in 2012. Once other Agency's saw and started hearin about the 30 S, and started askin for it,
Glock just decided to put it out to anybody as just another selection of their Glock Line.

True and correct.
I think yours is the Compact XD .45 Poot. 3.8 inch barrel I can't Put it the pocket of my shorts and carry it. The barrel is 3.8 inches.
That's why I got the XDS. Less rounds, only 8, but a 3.3 inch barrel. Fits my shorts pocket just fine...don't even know it's there.
The Glock 30 is the same. 3.3 inch barrel. A little heavier than the XDS, but 3 more rounds is why.
I believe this is your piece. Do you Carry it?

Good lookin rifle Labor. Had to turn my laptop upside down to look at it, but...Not a problem!!!
I know you do Competition Long Gun Shoots...Do ya still do that man?
Do ya shoot Pistols much, do ya "Carry"?
I haven't gone to the "Long gun" Range in a few months.
Really need to do that, and check my Scope for "O" on my piece of **** 1976 Romy AK. A few months ago...I changed out some stuff.
Last time I was at the "Long Range"....
While I was shootin my piece of Crap Romy AK...
there was a guy next to me shootin a Thunder Ranch AR. ONE SHOT AT A TIME. Fire a shot....Clean the barrel.
I was proud of my AK Target. 12" target...all 30 rounds in the 12 inch Target.
Him? 15 rounds. 2 inch group.....
There's Groupin, and then..... there is "Precision groupin".

I don't shoot my pistols very much, when I do I like my Kimber .45.
Nobody carries in Jersey, impossible to get a concealed carry permit unless you're a retired LEO, and then even the retired cops gotta re-qualify once a year. It's all BS.
Yes, I still compete in NRA HP matches and John Garand matches. The season is winding down up here now, only 4 matches left with the last one the Sunday after thanksgiving. When the season is over I start to prep my brass to reload for next season.....
Group size is all relative, shooting standing offhand I'm happy with a bigger group all in the black. Rapid fire, prone and sitting, I want the 2" group.
i shoot iron sights, with a scoped rifle I would expect small groups all the time!!!!

Are you able to purchase old Garands still as a part of that group? My brother-in-law was in a league that shot open sights, 1000 yards with Garands. Once you had qualified you could buy a supplus Garand.

Garands can be purchased thru the CMP or Civilian Marksmanship Program. You have to belong to an affiliated club and prove you have been trained in the use of firearms, if youre a vet all you need is a copy of your DD 214 with weapons qualifacations listed and that will cover the firearms training end of it.
I only shoot out to 600yds as there are no 1000 yd ranges in Jersey......
If you want an M1 from the CMP, better hurry, theyre running out of them and the wait is long!!!!!!

The M1s laying together are 1944 top rifle and 1943 bottom rifle, of course the barrels aren't from WWII but it's nice to compete with a piece of history.....never know where those rifles were during the war, coulda been on Iwo or Normandy, I'll never know but it's just another reason I love those rifles,,,,,

Isn't there some way you could look up the serial numbers and possibly track where those weapons were used? Just curious, don't even know if something like that is possible.

Bout a month ago, they put out a "Voluntary" Recall notice on my carry Piece, My Springfield XDS.
I won't get into it, but....If I had really thought about it, I never would have sent it in. If you're interested, do a google search of "Recall notice for Springfield XDS".
Well, anyway....mine should be back next week.
So....I sent my XDS in, and, told my wife, I'd just pack my HK USP till it gets back....
I'm getting Old.
I haven't shot that thing in over 6 years, It's my House gun... when I went in and got it, from "it's place"....Holy CRAP!
That thing is HUGE! Told my Lady..."I can't pack this thing till the XDS comes back, It hangs out of my pocket!!!" She just said...."Well Trade it in".
Huh. Never thought of that. I have been lookin at the Glock 30S.
So packed my happy ass up, with the HK USP, and went down to my local Gun shop. Been doin business there for years. They gave me a hell of a deal.
A Glock 30 S in .45. With 2, 10 Round Mags....with one in the chamber, That's 11 rounds in a Small package. The Glock 30 S was designed for the LAPD S.I.S Unit.
http://americanhandgunner.com/the-glock-30s/
Anyway, they threw in a Glock 21, 13 Round Mag, with the sleeve so it fits in the 30 S. Never had such a compact Pistol that packed 10 or 14 rounds of .45 ACP. Pretty Amazing.

What about checkin with the actual manufacture, with the serial number. They should at least be able to tell you where it was sent to from the factory. Might give ya at least a clue...where it went, from, where it was sent too.

Well I know where the rifles were built and when.
the top Garand in the pic was built at the US Springfield Armory Springfield Massachusetts in March 1944, the bottom rifle was built same armory in January 1943.

That's Crazy. I really would have thought, between the Springfield Armory, and the Govt...Records would have been kept.
Maby they were...but records from 1943...Not so much.
That's...like I said...really too bad.
I would just think that the Springfield Armory....given the serial number of the Rifle...should be able to provide the information of where that rifle was dispatched too. WHAT Military Base or Armory. Back in 1943....
But....Probably not. It was all "Paperwork" back then.
