If they had more women in the trade,do you think they would be treated equal and be sent out as a one man/woman like some of us have.Possibly be on a graveyard shift working alone,or would there be rule changes and make those trucks a two person truck.Ive never heard of a woman troubleshooter and would be interested if there ever was such a thing. What kind of situations would we be looking at anyway if there were women troubleshooters? :nightmare:

We should encourage diversity in the trade. EQUAL RIGHTS,should have brought some into the trade. But I've never met a female lines person .. We had a woman at national grid that was on lines men's rates for some pay scale reason and was listed as a linesman " on paper" .. But that's as close as I've seen.

We've had a few female line mechanics. The first few followed thier husbands on new jobs in new places, but the one there now, is a pretty good hand, well respected. She' also a volunteer firefighter and tri-athlete, easy on the eyes to boot. Not sure she wants a trouble job but I'm certain she could do that too, especially with the higher voltages and OSHA requiring two people now a days. Sure she'd have to be a first responder but usually the trouble work calls for a second hand.

I have met a few female linemen over the years, in fact there is one working in my local district. I have never had the pleasure of working with a female though. 20+ years ago Ontario Hydro put together an all female crew as an experiment and Toronto Hydro had a couple of females too! They are very rare in this trade

There use to be a "lineman Lady" on this board Years ago.
Cbottles, I think her name was. Worked in Cali and Hawaii.
Don't know much about her, aside from what she said she was. Posted a picture one time Years ago...in Hawaii I think it was, with her in hooks and tools about 10 ft. up a pole with her new baby.
I'm sorry...I'm not real Politically correct, ....women are welcome in this trade, they just really can't cut it when the real siht comes down.
I'm sorry. Truth is truth, and dreams are dreams.
"We're all Equal"!!

Where's that old "meter reader" birddog union chick, that use to post on this board....
Can't remember her handle, she use to be a real mouth on the "Board":p
....Her and LA...didn't get along too well.
CRAFT....Can't remember a Fcukin thing!! What was her handle....Dmanit.....

I worked with a female lineman several years ago, and she was top notch. She was a Canadian girl, and worked for Ontario Hydro before coming to work with us. She was smart, and worked as hard or harder than any man I ever worked with. She was a good hand, and fun to work with. She wasn't a girl you had to tippy toe around for fear of saying the wrong thing. Some of the guys wives tried to make a stink about her going on storm trips with us, but that was about all the complaints I ever heard. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago in a non work related incident. I really miss her playing tricks on me, and vice versa. R.I.P. Jennifer. :(
