We are working this weekend in Wales. But we've been told to gear up the vans tomorrow ready to " expect the worse. ". It's not supposed to hit us as bad as the south of England but still expecting damage.. Be careful Paul people have a tendency to do stupid things when on faults ( forget to engage brain before acting ) . Take a few extra minutes to asses the risks And get home safe.

I'm away but from what I have seen and heard, Essex and the South East took a hard hit.
There's still several thousand off supply, with over 200000 off at the height of the storms I understand.
I hear uk power are using helicopters for survey work and have crews in from all over.
Stay safe guys if you're working the storm.

On the way to the ferry this afternoon ..passed over 30 line crews that had just got off the boat. "Heading south"
Big yellow ESB line crews on the way.
Me on the other hand has just landed in Dublin... Off till Monday. :)

Do you guys on that side of the pond ever get those storms that knock out a few million like the Northeast does?

I've read this morning it was about 600000 off reppy, with quite a few still off. The rural 11kv networks which are overhead have taken quite a bashing I believe.
The worse we had was October 1987 but I was still at school then so can't tell you how many were off supply. Bren will remember it when he comes back from his break.
I'm in Cyprus this week for a well earned break so safely away from the action

We'll final home safe, been a very busy couple of days, plenty of faults done ,all conductor faults tho,no pole changes:)didn't get any picts(no time)most faults could be traced to the same source,TREES.seriously the dno who we ended up with need a gid kick in the nuts you no it's bad when you are 6ft from a pole and you can't even get to it without a tree cutter.we ended up in Bournemouth(a wee clue to the dno)
