this happened to two linemen during a planned outage, the basket was rated at 200kg,both linemen fully suited and booted where 191kg so there was 9kg of play and were within the SAFE WORKING LOAD,so my question is dose any one know the factor they use to get the safe working load for one of these machines?btw both guys ok with no injurys at all:D
We don't have any trucks with that type of boom here.
Max, Who is the manufacturer??
Glad both men were Ok

Picts not in order bren(my fault),I think your referring to why ther is a channel on then it isn't ,the boom failed BEFORE the guys got to that position,I am told the rest of the work was carried out from the pole the old way(spikes)buy another lineman

Scary! I hope the fellas are ok, underwear doesn't count. The equipment we use over here is built with a 2:1 stability rating and I believe a 5:1 safety factor.

Thanks rob, someone said they thought it was a 5.1 safety factor (because it is a man basket),that would mean that the max of this arm and basket would be 1000kg before it buckled.

Or it may be that the management don't want charged with manslaughter if one fails and kills someone. I can't even start to imaging the costs associated with shipping a load of heavy vehicles back to Italy to get retrofitted with new custom built metalwork. Not fun for the manufacturer at all.
