Just finished two 18 hour shifts. Getting the power back on ( Welsh / UK boarder). As usual. Heavy winds and trees caused significant damage. ...
Our job was a bit tricky as it was a line flattened one pole from the Motorway ( M6 ). .., the fallen trees were keeping one wire tight and this was holding the line over the motorway. ... Had to be careful not to cause that wire to slip ...it would have caused the pole and wires to fall on .." One of the busiest roads in the UK....
GOT IT SORTED IN THE END.. " no dramas ".

I finish on wens day the 18th night boat home... Then off UNTILL monday the 6th of January ... :) Really need a break ( getting old ) Ya can get sick of traveling back and forth...
Ten days away from " my boss " is very stressful .. The joys of linework I suppose.

Glad you've a nice break.. ENJOY MATE. . The usual storm scenario .. Trees wind damage. Bit of a challenge with the M6. Panic stations...all hands to the pump..worked a few 18 hour shifts. Then when the power is restored. Querying the hours we booked on the time sheets... Moaning about paying the lads SO MUCH. ( even though Scottish power is paying our firm big bucks for each hour worked ). Plus they are insured for storm damage
...Lucky most linemen are proud to restore the peoples electricity and pride in their profession.. And are not motivated purely by money. BECAUSE AFTER THIRTY YEARS IN THIS PROFESSION I KNEW THEY WOULD MOAN ABOUT THE MONEY " AFTER WE RESTORED THE POWER" .. But we do what we do as old line dog says.
