replace climbing belt

does anyone know or tell me where I can find information on how long you can have your climbing belt in service before you have to replace it

I use Bashlin climbing gear.Bashlin suggests between 5 to 8 years is the normally accepted life of a climbing belt.Of course if it has wear or damage it should be replaced sooner.I go to 7 years,then change.
