I have a concealed weapons carry permit. I carry every day. I carry a Glock 30s .45. 10 + 1 in the chamber. How many others on here actually carry daily? I understand some people are afraid to say that they "carry". Scared to say anything about themselves....I understand. Part of the reason I'm not here very much. I'm on a gun Board, where people aren't afraid to talk about things like that. Anyway....What ya all Carry concealed...for those of you that do? Or...would ya prefer not to say?:D:D:p

Only people who can get a permit to carry in Jersey are retired LEOs, and maybe private security people.......
I,dont know if i would carry if I had a permit, but it would be nice to have the option......

A lot of people have employers who have a no firearms policy on their property and some of their management looks at different forum's probably this one included, so it's probably not a good idea for those people to put their bussiness out there for all to see, but a lot of people do carry daily and you would never even know it. In your case Swamp you are retired and you have no employer to have to deal with, I'm proud for you, gotta be a good feeling.

That's terrible Labor. I forgot about guys like you. That truly sucks, living in a state that controls your rights that much. As for what LNF said.....forgot about that too. I do feel lucky and privileged. Too bad most have to be retired to excersize that right.

I'm sorta mixed on "Open Carry". I sure don't mind seein people open carry, but I'll rather keep my piece "concealed" thanks. I'd prefer not bein the First guy shot by some punk because he saw my "open carry"...Now he's got 2 guns. No...I'll keep mine concealed thank you very much. I've been carrying for a Number of years, and have never had to actually "draw" my gun. I did have a situation where two "people" saw me and my wife walking to the movie, thru the parking lot, and changed direction to come up behind us. I just stopped, turned around, put my wife behind me, purposely put my hand in my pocket, and said..."You gentlemen need to go back across the street and continue in the direction you WERE going. There's no knockout game happening here." They just looked at me, turned around and went in the other direction. No. I wouldn't like to be carrying "Open" in a situation like that. BUT...You live in Texas Poot. I live in Disneyland. I'll stay Concealed thank you very much.

Da dog has a good point, you always want an element of surprise, never show all of your cards. When out eating/dining always sit close to the door, and face the door or entrance so that you can see what is happening or who is entering. It can also be the fastest exit in case you need to leave fast.....having the concealed handgun helps if your in a position where you need to protect a loved one....lately we have been having a rash of robbers being shot and killed by a homeowner or customer at a business.....as a result Ive been having dozens of orgasms when hearing about this:D.....you cant beat it!:D
New York is just as bad if not worse than Jersey... And it continues to get worse... Google " NY Safe Act"... Bunch of BS!

Carry every place it's legal to do so.
Have a home state permit and a couple of non residents... GTG everyplace it's legal.
Open carry? Well--- open carry in a Uncle mikes cheapo or western gun belt may draw attention. Plaid shirt, dark gun in a IWB holster never gets a second look. OC is legal in 30 odd states.

This should be good....for the States that wont allow their folks to carry a concealed handgun. What is their reason, has to be a reason/theory....So the bad guys get a gun one way or another, but the innocent are the ones that are punished....(Mr.Reppy we wont allow you to carry ,because you may hurt the guy that is trying to rob you) and by the way if you killed him you could get the death sentence.......but officer,if I dont carry I would be dead anyway....right?:nightmare:......whats the reasoning behind it all for those states?

I know the new Florida warning shot law is an attempt to square a few cases where folks who fired em ended up in jail.
Legally, every bullet is attached to a lawyer. Will the new law excuse liability if it damages any body or any thing?
I spend some time teaching CCW classes and pistol skills.... if a gun comes out, you'd best be prepared for the aftermath.

If the "warning shot" did Hit somebody, than yes, Liabality would ensue, as it should. but...If It didn't cause any damage, or "aftermath" and stopped the attack....what then? There is Always the "IF" factor in anything dealing with Guns. I too, teach CCW classes, and gun awareness. The new "Warning shot" Law...is a Good thing.

Here its kept fairly simple...if you have a concealed handgun permit and your life is in danger ,you kill the poor ba$tard and thats about it...sure they will still investigate and all ,but that warning law is one too many laws that is just wasting more paper than needed .....Poot correct ,me if Im wrong....Its just kept simple here.

Just put a set of Decal Grips on my Carry, Glock 30s. Pretty Sweet. I went with the Sandpaper texture. Feels like you couldn't blow this gun out of my hand. Even had a bit of extra material to put some on the Magazine. Made for a Great "extra" grip feel. WHAT a difference in "Feel Control"!! 10 Bucks. Bought em thru Lone Wolf. http://www.decalgrip.com/

I personally carry, in my shorts, a Glock 30s, 10+1 of .45...NOT much bigger than the .380 pistol, you are carrying. Take a look at the 30s. I just look at the .380 as a "backup". I personally have no faith in it as a First Response protection weapon.

Honestly? If she has a smaller hand, the thickness of the grip on the 30s might be a bit much. Take her to a Gun shop and let her actually hold a 30s. If thatis too big, and she wants to stay with .45 then I would recommend the Springfield XDS .45 3.3" barrel. Otherwise she can NOT go wrong with a Smith and Wesson Shield in 9mm or .40 Cal.

Owning both SPRiNGFIELD xd in 45 and 40 cal I wud reccomend either of them The springfield XD and the XDS versions are quite a bit different Poot. I also like the Springfield XD pistols though. The XD's are quite a bit "bulkier" than the XDs's though. BOTH, Great pistols for carry and Self Defense. Hand size in the Springfield, for a woman, I think the XDS might be a better fit. JMO. Again....Ya can't beat that MP Shield too.

the last few years... my side business has had a lot of women pass through learning pistol skills or the CCW classes.
I will share this..
Let her pick out her firearm... and find someone other than a gun counter guy to guide her through the selection process.
Most micro 9mm and 380's are poor choices to learn to shoot with. Light, small grips and miniscule sights all add up to a counter intuitive choice. What could go wrong? It's cute, light and tiny...perfect for a "woman".
FACT... the smaller the pistol the higher the skill level is needed to succeed with it. The recoil is harsh ... sights are hard to see... and 380 is still a close range proposition as a cartridge. Bigger calibers in small packages are usually tough to learn with.... flash, recoil and results discourage practice.
Glocks feel blocky to the masses... learn how to grip the pistol correctly and a wide range of hand sizes can shoot the platform. My wife is 5-1 and runs a G 19 in IDPA... my sister prefers 1911's in 45ACP... both have been trained and understand what this is all about.
Small revolvers.... those are a standard suggestion from gun counter operators. Some women love em.. others trade to a better choice when exposed to it.
I had a lady show up for classes with 25 Beretta tip up an a Beretta M9.. after a few hours ...she found my loaner Glock 19 was a better solution. A couple of months ago .. she brought out that 25... placed 5 nice shots in a B27 with it and declared "it sucks"....she's got a Glock 19 and a 26 now. Many women will end up in 1911's after they get a little exposure to proper shooting skills....
My collection has improved... several PPK and J frame SW's have been sold to me by women who "out grew" them ....

My wifes .40 xds used to be my pocket carry, I bought her the .380 with a laser, but she preferred the xds .40. So until I get the right offer on a trade for my .380... it will ride along in my pocket.
I have owned several glocks, after shooting the springfields, especially the XD platform I can't say as I would ever return to a glock.... the xd's just fit much better.

I had the Crimson Trace touch Laser on my XDS .45. I never got use to sighting with a laser. Trying to switch from years of looking down the sight, to looking at the red dot I felt, actually made my target acquisition Harder. I liked the XDS, but when I got it back from he Recall, The trigger was completely different. I had bought the Glock 30s while it was away and just fell in love with it and the extra rounds. Ended up selling the XDs and getting another 30s. I understand "Fits better". It's a personal thing.

My daughter's fiancé, has a Smith & Wesson 500. 4" barrel. We were actually told we couldn't shoot it at a OUTDOOR Range!! It use to be called the "Alaskan". It was designed for Bears, up in Alaska. He is SO lookin for a place where we can shoot it with the full bullet load. I'd pull the trigger on it...once. Just to say I did. I honesty don't have any interest in shooting a handgun...with that much power. Makes a .44 magnum...look like a .22.

Reppy, I have tried several times to quote your post and I keep getting a bullcrap message about sending a message to the administrator, but I will try it one more time. We used to be allowed to hunt bear here in FL with hounds and usually where the bear would decide to tree up would be so thick that you could not tote a rifle in to the tree because most of the time you were crawling so a 44 magnum pistol with a long barrel was the gun of choice, lot's of recoil Reppy, LOTS.

How do you shoot? How do you "Aim"? I practice the theory of "Front sight, Front sight, Front sight". Meaning, when I put my gun on target, my "Eye" Focus's on the Front sight. The Front sight of my Gun is my Focal point. IT is my focal point, and IT is clearly focused and on the Target. You would be amazed how many people don't understand the concept of "Target Focus". How do you guys "Focus" on Target" Front sight focus? Where the front sight of your weapon is Clearly in Focus? Focus on the Target? Where the sights are blured but the Target is in Focus? How do you...."Aim"...with a pistol?

focus is on the front sight, I shoot NRA high power with a ar15 and John C. Garand CMP matches with m1 rifles. I use a Ray Vin carbide smoker to blacken the front sights and always focus on the front sight. Same with pistols although I don't shoot pistols much......
NRA matches out to 600 yds, front sight focus, 6 o'clock or POI hold...... Always focus on the front sights......
