Happy Appreciation day.... Kinda feels weird to for me to to remind everyone to "Thank a Lineman" since everyone that will read this is probably a Lineman.... So, go ahead and thank your Buddies and then they can thank you.... The time we are truly appreciated is when the lights come back on some cold winter night.

I never, ever...even thought about People "appreciating" what I did as a Lineman, though I've had many compliments, in MANY different senerios.
Honestly? It was just my Job, and I LOVED it!!! Regular people just freak out when their power goes out. Therefore...The People that turn it back on...are..."Appreciated" so to speak.
It's all good.
Never got into this trade to be"appreciated". Just Proud to have been a member of a Trade...with many other fine people who feel the same way.

My lineman appreciation is just seeing people's lights back on after a storm, and a thanks fellas from a customer or two. Also knowing I worked a pole change or a construction job where the customers never even knew we were there. Any of the older fellas I have worked with prefer to remain low profile. Me too.

Around here, "Lineman Appreciation Day" is any day that a lineman declares it. Appreciation is expected to be shown by apprentices in the form of beer. All in fun, of course.

My "Lineman appreciation days" where when I had apprentices that TRULY wanted to learn the trade. They Listened, questioned, and truly had a Desire to learn the trade.
Not sayin you don't, but the smart mouth apprentices I was seein before I retired... would have got me fired because I would have slapped the shit out of them for not having RESPECT.
Not much of THAT around in the trade anymore either. Least by what I've seen and heard lately from my friends still..."unfortunately" (their words), still in the trade.
Sounds like things are different in BC. Here...back before I retired, it was the Linemen who bought the beer if it was a good day or week. Apps went and GOT the Beer.
