You have just finished making up a grounded delta bank. It is Wye/Delta and the secondary is 480. All you did was move it from one pole to another. Shortened the line up due to customer request. Old pole was in the way etc. Anyway your apprentice goes to the selfcontained meter base to check things out before plugging in the meter. After he checks things out you open the cutouts and he plugs in the meter and then you close the cutouts and you'all head to the barn. What are the 3 items he must have checked? Now this is mostly for Hemi and any other apprentice. Don't you old hands jump in and give the answers right away. dbrown20

rotation and voltage on the line side and test for presence of voltage on the load side. Don't 480 metercans have a meter bypass switch that bridges the line and load side while you plug in or remove the meter?? or were you just opening cutouts so the meter wouldn't blow up in your face if something went wrong??

Yes newer installations do have a bypass. Older ones don't.

Hemi, what would you check if it were a combination lighting and power bank,a 120/240 bank? You're still missing one ingredient. dbrown20

Just the position of the grounded phase in the meter base. Locally it's in the middle whereas the wild leg position is on the far right. dbrown20
