I came to AK from California. There is this cable company, GCI that just runs there services unscured from the pole to the ground. Its like climbing a Christmas tree without any branches but whole bunch of garland. I mentioned it at our Company safety meeting- like a fart in the wind.

Any AK brother who has this problem, adress it at a safety meeting. And if there is no action- email the site where you find this and send it to steve_stanley@labor.state.ak.us . He is supposed to be the electrical inspector for the state, but he doesn't know what NESC means nor does he have the book?????

I am telling you brothers and sisters. Its sad we have to deal with people with sheepskins that don't know our trade. That hold titles to protect us, but they don't know how!!! But they can put together a great powerpoint presentation that flatters polysyllabic titled people.

We have to stick together. Get lawyers to get these people's heads out of there third point of contact!!!!

Im with swamp on this issue. My job is to repair or build and maintain electrical power not phone or cable.I try to do my best with the cable co. though I know those guy around here and there cool. They can hook you up with some cool shit on tv,s and even internet, but the phone co sbc there usually just dicks.Bottom line here is if there lines are in my way I cut the shit down not my problem. My gig is eletrical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not public relations.

Bill, sounds like you may know something about the NESC. If so photocopy the violations and pass to your companies lawyers. Most cable contracts require compliance with NESC. Ours gives them 10 business days to correct anything we notify them about; after that we cut it down with an ax (and we have). After you do that once or twice it gets thier attention. All a matter of how well your contract was written.

I have never seen such crap to climb through to get to the power. I am trying to contact lineman that deal with it.
To get together mention it at their safety meetings. It stinks when every step you take you got to clear your tool pouch from eight cable services just hanging. And the waist of time when a customer calls about down wire and its coax just hanging. Its a pain.

AK means Alaska, not Arkansas.

Thanks Thrasher :)
