Can anyone tell me where to Apply in Canada as a Lineman apprentice? I am an Electrician trainee at the moment with MB hydro, they wont transfer me into another training program.

Contact the closest IBEW hall and ask. They will give you the # for the local jatc or at least get you pointed in the right direction. E.S.

you may want to consider alberta. with the oil boom in this province right now there is a bad manpower shortage and a good 10 years of solid construction out here between the contractors and the utilities. from calgary all the way to Ft. Mcmurray j-men and apprentices are being hired. just a thought.

the main two distribution companies are Fortis Alberta and Atco power. Epcor owns the lines in edmonton and i think enmax has Calgary. there are also 3 or 4 REA's in alberta. all of them have websites with job postings and contact numbers. There is a ton of new construction all year round and lots of storm trouble so the moneys pretty good out here.

It's a unionized job, with the United Utility Workers' Association (UUWA). They're going into bargaining this fall.
