I saw this on another site and wondered what it was. The photographer didn't really know either. Do you guys have any guesses?

It is a irrigation motor. It is used to run a irrigation pump.

In the Texas panhandle where I grew up we used Chevy 350 motors to run the well head. If you look at the bottom of the picture you can see the gas meter the motor runs off of.

A 350? I'll have to ask my brother what we used. Next time I'm home, I'll have to really take a look at it. Although, I'm not sure we have it anymore. It's been many years since we did any type of irrigation on Dad's farm.
I should have guessed it was an irrigation pump though.
Anyone else have something they want to post a pic of?

Its a propane powered irrigation pump,I have one on my ranch, but mine is a small block chevy motor. The Chevy motor works good because you can get parts cheap and at almost any parts store. The propane works good because its cheap and the gas company will fill your tank up on a regular schedule. You need to make a few mods to the engine, hardened valve seats ,hardend pistons, etc. E.S.
