How many of you guys and gals have a problem with those fucking pop up adds? If you know of any great spy/adware removal programs, I want to know what is out there and what works well for you. thanks!

There are also the free (and very good) spyware and antivirus packages available for personal home use from:-

there's also the free version of the zonealarm firewall to keep hackers out of your computer.:-

I run the free zonealarm together with Norton. The first time they run together, they kept peeking into each others' files and were sqealing on each other. Now they get along fine, but let me know if one of them gets major updates. I run adaware once a week to get rid of a lot of junk. Firefox is my browser, and with this setup, I don't get any popups or other garbage, like I used to with Internet Explorer.

well internet explorer is a bunch of horse shit then lol. i had netscape awhile back, never had any popups. Is it true with a macintosh computer, that viruses are not very common in those computer systems?

Adaware Free. Gets the ad files that are put on your computer that trigger alot of the damn pop ups. Update it reguraly, run it every couple days. I'd be interested in how many "hits" you get when you first run the program.

Crap Cleaner. Just what it says.

Make sure you turn on the Tea Timer, and Immunize regularly.

Swampster. I got Spybot, damn that thing works great :-) Thanks!

Internet Exploirer is indeed a pile of shit. It's just too big and unwieldy to properly debug, so hackers find holes in it's security quite frequently. If you have a PC switch to firefox:-
http://www.mozilla.com

It's a free download and exists happily beside Internet Explorer, but once you've tried it the only reason you'll use IE again is to access badly designed sites that were screwed to make them work on IE. Very rare now.

Macs are NOT immune to viruses. They're just less of a target due to their limited appeal to hackers.
