Looking for input on what your companies do on 1 leg deads. The obvious fix is to do them asap but if you are all like us, short handed, don't have time and some sit for days if the customer has no 220 equipment. We have a customer service department that installs a multi arc, so they will have 120 on both legs but no 220.problem we have is they then install the meter cocked in the odc which we have had instances where when removed it can cause a possible flash. Yes we could denergize the service at the drip loop to prevent having the possible falsh and some do exactly that. It is not always convenient or necessary to open up at the drip loop. We are asking them to remove the meter and hang it up by the odc or put it in a plastic bag but not back in the odc in the cocked position. It is a battle between 2 departments at this point, the service dept. bosses don't believe it is a problem and insist on doing it this way. i am looking for input on what is done at othe utilities on this same problem. thanks

Not sure what your asking, if we lose one leg of single phase UG, and the ground is to frozen to dig or in the middle of the night, we hook up a "Service Saver". It will work if you have any combination of two phases, or one phase and the neutral. It basically restores a lost phase or neutral. Nice machine.
We used to string triplex over the ground from one house to another to restore service. To risky now days.

We used to the meter adapters and tpx on the grnd but finally got our own add-a-phase. I haven't used it yet but the guys used it in less than a week after getting it.

We use ours more and more, in fact ours has been on one house three weeks. Ground is frozen to four feet and a backhoe won't scratch it. We have had as many as three houses on it also.
Hey GB I am still working on the hat!

why do people say 110/220 when it really is 120/240?

Thats what I am looking for some other way to restore temp without stringing tri-plex or installing the multi-arc and putting the meter back in the odc cocked. Worked last nigh had 2 ug 1 leg deads and they told us to install the arc. Did so and hung the meter by the tab for the seal. We don't do the ug work at our utility, we have ug crews.
Any web page were I can find this add a phase and the service saver tool? Thanks

We use a "Service Saver", have left them hooked up for a couple weeks before we repaired the UG cable.

We run a temp bypass cord. A cord on top of the ground in flex conduit. Not unlike an extension cord. One end in the xfmr and one end in the meter base. Some xfmrs have a removable plate in the side to run the cord into.

Electronics here in Ameirica are rated for 110\220 That is the standard. The acutual voltage on the lines is inbetween 105 and 135 phase to ground.
We Will String Triplex Out Of The Pmt With Conduit To A Tree Or What Ever And Run It To The Hse Till We Can Fix It Or The Electrian Can.we Have Come Out Of The Trans.or Jct.boxes.
Can Someone Post A Name Or Web Site Of The Service Saver.haven't Seen One But Sound Like A Great Tool To Have.

The name of the equipment you are talking about is called a "Servisaver" and it is manufactured by The VON Corporation out of Birmingham, AL.
