Hey fellow lineman, just a heads up if any brothers are working around St.Louis area on Amerens property... A good buddy of mine was working last week with Asplundh. A newly topped out utility lineman seen him remove his glove and sleeves on his way down to the ground and ran in the power company and told Ameren that contractors was working without gloves and sleeves. Asplundh fired the lineman and the 7th step apprentice just on the word of the RAT utility lineman. So beware guys,,,99% of the Ameren guys cant do the freaking job and most of them will run and tell if they see you do any little thing that they feel is unsafe. This guy goes by Jeremy Pour just so you know! Be careful out there, watch your backs, and watch out for the lil rats that among us!

Sounds like bullshit to me bro......how do you know that the ameren guy rated out your friend? Was there a witness or did a "company" say it was the lineman?

I agree. There seems to be some holes in this story. Lets hear all of it!

I know he rated out the contractor because i once worked for Ameren and i have lots of connections still there,a few phone calls and a talk to the stewart at the headquaters and the whole story came out. Its just a peice of advice if you are working on Amerens property,,keep your eyes on what you are doing AND on the few lil rats that work for them!

this story is completely true. On one hand its bull they just go by some utility hands word. However, asplundh wants gloves and sleeves cradle to cradle. Stupid, i know. but hey its a job.

I have worked for Asplundh off and on and yes, Asplundh demands that gloves and sleeves are worn ground to ground, cradle to cradle even when working secondary, even in areas where sleeves are not required in primary, even where gloves need only be worn when approaching “absolute limits of approach” and this is a “Company Policy”. I have witnessed apprentices and journeymen reprimanded when they violated the “Company Policy”, and although I have never witnessed Asplundh dismissing or terminating a hand for not wearing gloves “as per Company Policy” I have absolutely no doubt that Asplundh would follow through to include “termination”.
I don’t agree with Asplundh, however if I work for them I wear the gloves and sleeves as required, and I hate wearing gloves and sleeves, especially when it’s hot.
