Has anyone had much experiece with the vault style URD Vista switch?
Good or bad.
I am asking for input about catastophic failures, etc.
Thanks,

Apparently your pole is seeking only a negative bias opinion.

No problems with device itself. Care needs to be taken to confirm schematic
on device matches with existing conductors.

Not really looking for a negative bias opinion.
I have 33 years experience in the business and have worked both overhead and URD.
The buried Vista is a piece of equipment that offers lots of technology, but we as a work group are the lineman operating this switch with only the information on it that the company gives us.
In the past we only had the VFI switch and the older PME fused cabinets on our URD system. The Vista has only been in place a couple of years on the system and only a few months in the district I work out of.
So, not being a pessimist, I was only asking for input from fellow brother lineman.
Thank you for the reply.

We are using them more and more at Hydro. No live parts to get into. They call each compartment a "way". Some are just disconnects others can be set to trip like a fuse. A laptop connects and you can change the fuse size and type. Had a call recently, with the Vista feeding some overhead, and a bird got into the primary. It tripped at the Vista. Just used the enclosed handle and re-energized it. You can phase between ways using your voltmeter. Also has small indicators which flash when a cable is energized. No problems yet. Trampbag how ya all doing there ???

I've installed a number of these switches, both SCADA and non-SCADA. The only problem I can see is that in cold climes you would have to make sure water did not collect in JB installations or you had some way to thaw them out quickly. I don’t know what they would be like with sand and salt under those situations. That would be eliminated with manhole installations and above ground enclosures.
Switching VISTA switches manually is a big improvement over anything I have seen in the past with the exception of some of the European switches which are far advanced over anything I have seen in NA.

I accidentally misquoted the charactor's line in the movie and said “****ed up” instead “Freeked out” and got *****ed.
That I’m why I’m asking when did censorship start??

I'm not sure Lonesome. Honest. I know you can change it on your own somewhere in your CP, but evidently it's been turned on in an Administration panel some where.
I'll see what I can do guys, but as you all know, I don't have Administrational powers. Give me a chance to look at it, okay?
