1. How many of you put the crossarm above the transformer or on the backside of the pole from the transformer. Same with a primary riser.
2. And if you were to use a fiberglass standoff arm [it has 3 arms on it one striate out front, two out the sides] mounted below your crossarm to mount cutouts on for a 3 phase bank or a cat bank, would you ever put it right above the transformer or cat bank so when you close them in from the pole or even a bucket you are right below them? Or would you put it on the backside from the tx bank or cat bank?

We hang all arms above the Tx. If it is a single Tx the arm go on the back side of the pole. If you have a bank we usually us double arms with cutout on one side and lighting arrestor on the other side. Arrestor are always over the banks. if you would like to see pictures PM me and I will send you pictures. we have also used fiberglass stand off brackets for URD.

We always tried to put the fuse towards the street and whatever we were fusing towards the field or other side of the pole. I remember one time I had a blown fuse on a 333kva stepdown. The fuse was above the can. I couldn't find what took out the fuse. I cleared all taps and tried a new fuse. The cover blew off and the oil caught fire! I really wished the can was on the other side from me!

Thats what I'm talking about. If the Tx blows you are somewhat out of harms way. We got some new spec's commimg down the pike.

You know good and well everything works just as good in the field as it does on paper. (sorry, I couldn't help myself)
If possible never on top, out of the way if things go bad, easier to work with extendo if neccesary, and easier to rig when you need to change out the tx.
Do not understand the crossarm part?? Aren't they all above the tx or am I on the wrong phase??
but we don't close em in off the pole or out of the bucket. Always from the ground with the extendo stick.
