I took the written test November 20 with local 126 in PA. I hope I get the results this week. I've applied to PP&L for Groundsman 4 times, but I don't think they want a 48 year old apprentice.

that would be tough. i think the oldest apprentice in my class was a little over 30.

thanks for the reply damn encode, i know if i'm given a chance i can do the job. the people down at the union hall say age is not a problem, as long as you can physically do the job. i can still deliver over 700 cases of soda off a side loader starting out at 4:00 am and finishing at 11:00 pm and still have enough to do my pushups.

If your looking for a power company job I've noticed alot wont even look at you if your over a certain age. I know with the EOE laws they really can't but some how they do. But these are people off the street Im talkin bout if your a good hand you should be able to find something. I'm not kidding and I laughed when I found out but a contractor here hired a guy in his 60s as an ape. Hes still running around the property not sure what step he is now though cause its been about 3 years.

Go in there and ensure them that you will make it through the program. There is a 50% drop out rate for lineman apprentices . The bookwork ,traveling & type of work isn't for everybody .
