I got the call at 1:30 today and my crew along with a couple others leave Louisville in the morning and head for Topeka, Kansas. I'm dreading it cause its me and two green horn apes. Good money though.

I did find out today though that the company we contract for, LG&E is on their way back home already. Seems they have been comming home early alot.

Yeah this ain't my first ice storm I know how bad they suck. And this one looks like its gonna take the cake. Have you ever tried to tell a first year ape that thinks hes a journeyman that ice is a perfect insulator? God I would of had a better time talking to a saucer of water. He insists I'm full of shit and dont know what I'm talking about since "Water is so conductive". First time he acts up out there he will be kickin rocks cause I don't need to see anyone else get killed. I hope no one has to experience what I have. Don't work too hard. I'll try getting on here from the hotel and update ya if you like as far as conditions go.

ED,,you are in charge of the ape ,,,,,make sure he knows ,,even if you have to be a dick about it ,,,,,,,if anything happens ,its your ass not his ,put him in his place ,,,,,be firm and clear,,now aint the time for the bull shit,be carefull out there...in detroit 90% of downed wire was still hot ,,,,,last year,,,,,,get him a lineman and cable mans book ,,,and let him read about how they used to use purified water inside transformers,,,,,maybe a light will go off for him ,,,,he obviously need your help ,dont let anger or personal feelings sway you.......he dont know ,,,what he dont know ,,scammy

Doin 17 hour days here in the topeka area. Not too bad. The power co does all the line energizing so they have total control of it. Makes me feel better. Only 60k out so we will be moving on soon. And um gonna move me ass to bed. Lol later folks.

We sent a ton of crews out of Bama that way. Not sure if they are still there or not, but I'm sure they are.

Looks like we might be heading back to kentucky late this week unless we go elsewhere. We had a ice storm in lousiville and home is short handed.

Heading to eskridge, kansas today to chage a bunch of broken arms on a 34kv route. Good easy work. And boy do i have a good one for the accidents and near misses thead. I will post that when i get back home.

Stay warm and keep your powder dry folks. Time to get my hooks on.
