We are trialling a new style phasing device it has two detectors about the size of a beer can each, you can hook one detector on a conductor and you can check phasing to any other conductor of the same voltage within 2 kilometers (and line of site) by attaching the second detector at that point . It is purely audio it sounds when the detectors are in range but not in phase and alarms when the two conductors are in phase.
This device seems too good to be true has anyone used these type of devices , I would like to trust it 100% but dont trust the salesmans rants , would prefer to get endorsement from other users in the field.

I'm wondering if one just modulates an RF carrier wave with it's picked up signal from the wire and the other demodulates it and then mixes the resultant signal with the one it's getting off it's wire.
Am I right in guessing that only one unit might have a speaker or do they both have one?
Does the unit warble if they're out of phase and produce a tone when they're in phase?
It sounds a good idea.

Been using these for years, works great on Transmission...
