We have 2 super asshole linemen both journeyman who do as much as they can to promote hate and ill will towards the entire workforce and then hide behind the union for protection . Management is UNWILLING to make a move to get rid of these guys fearing a lawsuit . What can we LEGALLY do to get these assholes gone ? I have confronted them , kept notes on them along with some of the other guys . They are destroying the UNION , the morale and act generally like 2 year olds throwing a tantrum everyday , spreading rumours , threatening to quit the union and generally making life as miserable as possible for everyone . If we attempt to kick their asses then WE will be in big trouble. ANY ideas that can be used legally would be GREATLY appreciated . Thanks, Bear

First question is do they work safe, will they look out for you and do they follow all the company safe work practice rules. #2 is are they productive, being a asshole is sometimes part of being a lineman, ( worked with a few ) They were probably brought up by assholes. Teach them like you want them they may be your boss someday. As long as they are safe and productive it may be hard to say see ya. Put them on a crew together and let them bitch to each other. I guess you are in a right to work state, came from one of those, the union reminded us as job stewarts you only have to represent somenoe to the best of your ability HA HA. be safe

To answer your question , No they do not work safe and try very hard not to follow the rules . Also they will NEVER BE A BOSS . We are open shop but do not live in a right to work state. Bear

was asked by my project manager to get rid of a couple of guys a few years ago . they were just like the guys your talking about .
first day i made them hand dig two stay holes second day i told them that the stay holes were in the wrong place and that they had to fill them in and dig them over there (5 meters in opposite direction).
third day said sorry i had made a mistake and that they had to dig them back where they started .
this went on for 5 days me saying sorry each time .
day 6 they left

If they refuse to follow safety rules or if they work in an unsafe manner, it is everyones responsibilty to correct the problem. Infractions can lead to dismisal. Get your HR dept. involved, use the chain of command. If that don't work, go over everyones head, and include OSHA! Once you hand it over to HR or OSHA, it is their ball game. THey take the liability.
IN this day and age, and the wages being paid, and the degree of responsibilty and professionalism we are all faced with, these guys should seek employment elswhere and in another profession.
