I have taken a few trips to 8th and I and Arlington with Marines who were veterans of Iwo, these are good men who have earned a place of honor in American Military history. The Time cover is a disgrace to the sacrifice made on Iwo, typical news media taking what many view as a sacred image wrought in sacrifice and minimizing the meaning of it. I hate the media!

I am a veteran. I have had many in my family who fought, and some who have died, in every war dating back to WWI. We have had discussions on the issues of things of this nature. Here is how I feel about it.

I respect and honor all who have served, and sacrificed and also their families. I honor this country and all our freedoms and civil liberties and bravery and courage. I honor the good we do for the World when we are doing good.

It does not bother me in the slightest to see flags on the ground. Flags being burned, national memorials being depicted as trees. They are only objects that are made by human hands. Nothing more than an inanimate object. There is no reason to call for the destruction of a group or person for doing something to an inanimate object.

These are symbols. They represent something that lives inside of us. That is what needs to be protected and nourished and spread to all. Our spirit. Not some piece of cloth that was dyed and sewn into a symbol. It could have heen a red shirt a few more seconds down the assembly line.

What does piss me off is what our government is doing to our citizens right now. Our kids, our brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, our grandparents are being killed for no reason that I see as righteous. They are being sacrificed for a lie from a lying thief who is lining the pockets of the rich.

We here at home are also paying the price. We are a debtor nation who is owned by Communist China. Why isn't anyone screaming about that? The Damn Commies!!!! Your Republican skins should be crawling!

No the people who show civil disobedience, and protests using a symbol aren't who is wrong to me. It's those who lie, cheat and steal, and kill our families for their own profit.

I'm not foolish enough to claim only Conservatives are guilty. I know the Liberals are just as guilty. All our electorate are tainted in somer way. Power does breed corruption. But there is more in our government now than ever before. What pisses me off is he is so damn stupid. He believes his own Bull Sh*t. The dumb Sh*ts who voted for him twice too!

Keep crying about your flag or your pictures. Those who did sacrifice for us did it for our right to do those things. It's written in the Constitution. That would be what is the most important inanimate object there is.

Great reply...well said. I did bristle a little on the flag part, just cuz I guess I'm old school on that issue and consider those idiots who have to do that just because they can ought to be exiled from this country...after the blanket party.

Im also ok with the free speech and the right to demonstrate etc unless and until those demonstrations infringe on other's rights and/or inflict damage on others property. I am inclined to destroy any individual or group of individuals (one by one ) who deprive me of my rights and/or damages, vandalizes, or destroys my property that I have worked so hard for.

It doesnt matter to me if the object representing America is the FLAG or anything else, those who choose to desicrate it, just to prove they can do so legally ...can kiss my ass.
