Power worker killed by falling tree
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 |
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One of the thousands of workers trying to get the power back on across our area has died.
HURRICANE IKE:
It happened around 11:15am Wednesday on McCaleb near FM 2854 in Montgomery County. The employee from Mid South Synergy was working on downed power lines when a tree fell on top of him.
Lanny Moriarty, Justice Of The Peace in Montgomery County Precinct 1, said, "Line crews from Mid South Synergy were cutting lines near McCaleb and Capitol Hill when a pine tree fell on one of the men removing the tree. (It) fell on him and he was coded there."

No other injuries were reported. Nearly 7,000 power company workers from around the country and Canada drove to southeast Texas to help restore power.

We were there in Montgomery helping Mid-South and we heard about that accident. Also not for sure but I heard that it wasn't the tree that killed him but the wire that got him. gotta say that the communication at Mid South is horrible!

they sent us out with some braces and insulators and said we just had a few wires on the ground. When we walked the feeder out there was shit down everywhere! Trees everywhere, and they had the nerve to rush us. Very uncoordinated unappreciative group over there.
