Get around on the subways, or take a taxi. Where are you staying? How long?
Alot to see....not sure what your interested in....

Empire State Building
Ground Zero, not sure about this one anymore as construction is ongoing.
St. Patrick's Cathedral, kinda stark, I was surprised...always open during the day.
Central Park
The Statue of Liberty
Rockefeller Center
Ellis Island
Museam of Natural History
Times Square
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine
St. Paul's Chapel, right across from the WTC site, it somehow survived on 9/11. If you visit ground zero, you may want to check it out, not sure open hours though.

I'd have to buy a whole new wardrobe to visit NYC!!! :D

I'd like to see all that is mentioned and even a broadway show. The Boss isn't interested so I'm sure it will be another trip for me and my girlfriend.

Good gravey.....and I'd never drive in NYC!!! Forget that!! I complain about Jacksonville and Atlanta! No, driving in NYC....it is NOT the adventure I want! Whew!

I'd still like to go though, just to see all the sites. It would be a change though......for once I would be the tourist. And since I'm an ole southern cracker from the sticks of Florida, I'll stick out worse than a sore thumb!

When you're a boy
Some days are tough
Lying on your bed
Playing punk rock and stuff
Home is a boot camp
You gotta escape
Wanna go and wander
In the ticker-tape

You feel the deal is real
You're a New York city boy
So young, so run
Into New York city

New York city boy
You'll never have a bored day
cause you're a New York city boy
Where seventh avenue meets Broadway

The street is amazing
The hoochies unreal
Check out all the hardware
At the latest deal
Hear a song
That's the bomb
If you don't get the mix
It's got eighty-six

You feel the deal is real
You're in New York city

New York city boy
You'll never have a bored day
cause you're a New York city boy
Where seventh avenue meets Broadway
New York city boy
This is your reward day
cause you're a New York city boy
Where seventh avenue meets Broadway

Then as the evening falls
You can return its calls

You feel the deal is real
You're a New York city boy
So young, so run
Into New York city

New York city boy
You'll never have a bored day
cause you're a New York city boy
Where seventh avenue meets Broadway

The subways were almost a religious experience... All on the trains were as quiet as church mice?... Thousands of people... standing nose to nose and not acknowledging each other? They have learned how to be alone togather... When I had the occasion to get one of them to commit to me with their eyes... it was as if I sapped energy out of them... and so... my hobby being what it is (check profile)... I made a game of it. It was
exhilarating...

It was in the 60's in New York and snowing back home in Houston... Go Figure?

That Car was not half empty... That car was only ten percent full... That ride was at about 2PM... While everybody was at work... Cept me...
Anyhow, we met a school teacher at the Heartland Brewery Chop House in Times Square... The cheapest place in Times I found a beer at five bucks.. anyhow the School teacher lived down towards Greenwich and offered to take us on a walking tour... The name of the Bar was "the Burp Castle"... It was a Unique place to say the least. We were on our way down to the 11th street bar near NYU. One of her friends was playing Bass in Jazz Band... The front girl while billing herself as Jazz, was heavily influenced by and sounded like Patsy Cline... There was a lot of local talent around... well sort of local... they lived there but they were from all over the world... Melding themselves into genere of Music I will dubb "Greenwich Jazz"... If you visit Manhatten... a trip down to the south end is a must to experiece the sights and sounds found nowhere else... I was awe struck at the intensity of life there...

I'd probably feel unease at the unfriendly. I know it was strange for me in California and my daughter warned me ahead of time about how the people are. I know it would be really weird in NYC.

I read a book recently about how a family from Boston went to Atlanta for a wedding. It was hilarious. There was a scene where a Boston couple was sitting on the bench talking when a female walks by with her dog and says, "Hi. How are you?" And the couple says hey back and the man asks, "Who was that?" And she replies, "I have no idea. Weird isn't it?" And he says, "Yeah. Really weird."

My youngest son went there on a week long seminar. He thought it a fascinating place.

Another guy related a strange story while visiting there. Said he and a friend were riding the subway. They were looking at a beautiful young woman near them who was dressed to the nines. His friend suddenly exclaimed. "Look, look." The beautiful young woman proceeded to pull a large booger from her nose and ate it! Talk about weird.
