there are many different things to do in line work... Transmission...sub transmission....distribution...swtictyards...subst ations... and theres allways the odd ball things... so boys tell me whats your favorite gig in this LINE of WORK?

For me it'll always be steel tower transmission... getting highs the greatest feeling in the world... I remember years ago when I'd hit the ground at the end of the day and would almost be depressed to go back to the show up... ahhh to have that all back again...

For me it was the stuff that made me hafta think outta the box. Lottsa work and just one man..... hafta maximize my efforts and use every thing I ever learned. Other than that I spoze it would have been anything technical that forced me to think and use what I had learned over the years.Sometimes it was a bummer while you were in the midst of it but the feeling after overcoming it was always sublime.

Transmission , Storm restoration, OH distribution, URD distribution, service work. In that order. Since its been years since Ive done transmission and they won't let ya free climb anymore, I guess its not an option anymore.

Conversions and rebuilds. I love doing it hot, and enjoy the challenges and oddball stuff you run across doing hot distribution, especially when you get into the three phase multi circuit stuff. I think it's neat being able to do work like that, and safely, and knowing that not many people would have any idea as to how to go about doing our work. That's where we really shine in our trade, keeping the power on while we are completely rebuilding a system.

Highline, bundled conductors, lattice towers, spacer carts, and storm work with a good crew are great too!

i like the prep work and the actual running of cable....Just finished a fairly large spacer cable run in my town about 16 sections and all in all, very few snags along the way.

I love hot distribution construction. There is just nothing like having do work on really involved poles. The rigging, the clearance, wire stringing. I can't even tell you how much I miss it. Went to a district for the OT and got put on a service crew. Service crew is about as much fun as eating broken glass. 6 more months and a change. I would love to get a shot at transmission work, but our utility has split it all up, and downsized crews so that there isn't much of a chance anymore. List from best to worst, distribution construction, storm restoration, transmission, UG, service work. The more complicated the better.
