Well I worked for SDGE out in San Diego,CA and all the lineman I talked to while working there seemed pretty happy. The lineman payscale is as followed as of right now; Distrubution: Lineman 44.61hr Foreman 48.30hr TMan 47.59hr. Transmission: Lineman 47.43hr Foreman 50.24hr. This Sept. the rate will be as followed: Dist. Lineman 46.39hr Foreman 50.23hr Tman 49.49hr. Transmission: Lineman 49.33hr Foreman 52.25hr. All OT, call-outs,ect. or work after 5:30pm m-f is doubletime. Nights and weekends are double-time; work on holidays is triple-time 1st 8hrs then double-time. Cost of living depends on the area of you live at.

have you considered National Grid? here in western ny you can buy a great 4 bedroom house for around $180,000. great schools. check out WNY real estate, coming from conneticut you'll be amazed. the pay is a little better here. with your background you'ld be perfect for trouble work at $40.00 an hour.

working for any of the big utilities these days are very similar . Controlling overtime costs and reducing customer interuptions are a big priority . Companies today are constantly looking for ways to reduce cost and maximize shareholder return on investment. I can honestly say working for grid has been a rewarding career. our safetly philosphy is among the best in the industry. We've had our accidents but grid shares the investigations with us and over the years we've worked together to eliminate them as much as possible.the pay and benefits are great and here in western ny the cost of living is affordable. the weather sucks here unfortunatly , only twelve nice weeks of summer a year. no wonder no one wants to live here.
