Does anybody out there know what activities are involved with the apprentice ground-man physical aptitude exercise? I have a test then interview in a week and any advice will be extremely helpful.

Depends on who you are interviewing with every company/utility is a little different. If you give some more details someone might be able to help you a little better.

Its a pre apprentice groundman position with Avista Utilities out of Spokane Washington. It doesn't sound like it should be to hard beings its for pre apprentices. Who knows though might have competition from some over qualified guys who are trying to get there foot in the door, I heard it was a pretty good company. Bottom line is I want to be as prepared as possible Im traveling 2400 miles round trip and spending bout 800 bucks on expenses so you could imagine how prepared I need to be. Anybody who gives me the golden info gets 10 percent of my first years salary haha. Any advice is greatly appreciated I'm just a baby lineman.

Now if you show the same eager attitude for the rest of your career as you are just getting your foot in the door I'd ask for you to be on the same crew.

I look around and see people lolly gagging just here for a damn paycheck, no heart, no dedication.

Hey thanks if only I had the same attitude towards my girlfriend, cant live with 'em cant live without 'em, anyway different forum. Choosing this industry was my best decision yet and I have a lot of respect for you journeyman. Us apprentices count on you guys to teach us right and show us safe practices so we can come home every night. I hope the guy I work for has as much passion for this trade as I do.

Had a friend go through it years ago. If my memory serves me right there was a lot of math on the test and things a groundman does. Like running a hand line, installing a ground rod, etc. If you went to line school it will help you. If not, hook up with a lineman in your area, go through tools, climbing and the type of math you will need. Sorry I don't have much info for you, good luck.
You might call there HR department for some info too.
