Earlier this week I made a trip to Corpus Christi to do a lil fishing. Anyway I always look at the different types of construction and saw a couple of things I am not familiar with. On some of the street lights ( 10- 12 ft metal brackets) there was something mounted within a foot of the st lt head with 2 antenea lookin affairs pointed straight up at the sky............. What the heck is this?? Next thang which may be also associated with that was a bare pole with a solar panel and some kind of box and again an antenae mounted rite at the top of the pole. No wires of anykind went to em ( meaning there was no urd feed an no overhead secondary) This is AEP territory so maybe one of you AEP guys could splain it for me.......... what purpose do they serve? Oh n no I didnt catch any fish. They had lockjaw I reckon.

Sounds like automated metering? Sorry! I know I'm not AEP! Guess I don't have the "lock jaw" problem?:o

I'm pretty sure that white box is for the automated metering...it's pretty much a repeater.

We have them up in Dallas where they are rolling out the AMR system.
