I went to an interesting meeting this week and it was about something I just never thought of, Mixing and Matching Four Generations of Employees.

Here is how they broke the generations up.

To begin to understand how individuals in different generations act and react, one must first start with understanding oneself. Begin by seeing where you fall on the “Generation Timeline” above.

The first thing to consider is the individual and his or her underlying values, or personal and lifestyle characteristics, which seem to correspond with each generation, as shown in the following table.

Understanding these characteristics about individuals makes it easier to look at workplace characteristics and how they manifest themselves in business (see Workplace Characteristics below).

This was an eye opener for me and I can see all four generations at work but ironically I can see them on this forum too. I just thought this was interesting and wanted to pass it on to you guys.

I don't think it was the Companies people who got the stats. I think there are lots of firms that offer these reviews for the corporate world. Seems like there is always some analyst running around asking questions. But until I seen the charts with the Yers, I pretty much had all the young folks as Xers. I think there still is about 8% of the work force is the veterans yet and the Yers are starting to enter more and more.

It was a Baby Boomer who had this in the meeting and if you look at the Boomers “interactive style” it's self explanatory. :D
