Had an order today for an "unsafe condition" after all the rain last weekend....comments on order said..."meter is full of water and running into basement.....flooding basement." I pretty much knew what I was gonna find but had to go check it out anyways......needless to say I called the line dept. foreman immediately.
No one was there so dont know how much water got in the basement......but felt bad for them.....brand new seasonal home.

pure water. It doesn't conduct very well. Ha.
On another subject EL, your buddy Chesapeake has suspended fracking in Arkansas because they are being blamed for the 800 or so earthquakes Arkansas has suffered this past year. Drill baby drill.

This time of year I have seen chunks of ice fall from the eves and just bomb meter banks at apartments. I think the most I have seen was 8 meters broken at one time. Be careful E.L.

Jumping off topic in my own thread.........I had to turn off a temp service today for a security company at a well site and the sign at the well said "Hess"........I took it to be thee "Hess"........That is the first time I have seen them have a well site here. Mainly Chesapeake and Cabot....I was out in middle of nowhere and I thought something was up as I passed a fleet of about 20 "rigging" tractor trailors and escort vehicles pulled off the side of the road....all phone lines and service wires were marked with orange tags and some were tied up higher to a nearby tree .As I pulled up to the meter at the security trailer a neighbor yelled over to me to hurry as they were tearing the down the "derrick" and hauling away in the immediate future. I hauled a$$ outta there did not wanna be sharing the single lane dirt road with that "gang" of riggers

Yeah.....lots of stuff coming off the roofs.....first thing I do when going near a meter is to look up......this was coming in under the padmount(which was in a pit..must have filled up with water) and running down the conduit into the meter cabinet and down into their basement. I run into this at least once a year....people think the meter is taking in water from the rain....while I have seen moisture in a poorly sealed meter glass when I hear "meter is full of water" I always think one of two things......coming in from underground or there has been a flood I dont know about:rolleyes:
Of course when I saw the padmount was located much higher than the house.......I figured
