There are three sets of fathers and sons on the Wall.

WOW! Interesting. When I saw the wall in DC I cried! Then I found a guy who I went through basic with, I cried some more!:(
You have to see this and what people leave there!

I've never seen the real wall in DC, But I have seen the Moving wall twice and it is a very emotional time for any one that visits it.

Nice post.

ive never seen it either, would like too.ive met many vietnam vets, before ,during ,and after serving in the army.some would talk about is and some others wouldnt ,we would leave it up to them.i had a friend that was there,he trained me more or less about motars, ect.one time he opened up,it was at night and we were training in ft.lewis,as he was talking to me there was a spot, located up in the trees, where the moon snuck, through.and when the tiny bit of moonlight came through, you could see his eyes,i dont think i could see anything else, but his eyes.he shot motars over there, but he told me that they had been used for sniper teams also.some teams would be 8 guys and some maybe 4,well he asked me if i knew what it was like to blow a guys head off ,he continues telling me that there was this guy, sgt.white had him in his scope, crosshairs, then he tells me after he shot,he remembered the poor guys head exploding, shattering in hundreds of places.when he told me this story his eyes told the story for me,somehow he was re-living that moment.i think he felt bad about it,did the guy have a family, kids was his body ever found.another story ,a cop friend told me,he was in vietnam, well as time goes by they get a newbie in,a spanish guy,he remembered his name, told me it was a younger kid from his old neighborhood.well this guy being green and with all that energy ask that he be the point guy that day.it was his first day there in the marines, the cop told me that later when they were on patrol, somewhere in there ,that the kid steps on a landmine, killing him instantly, the cop goes on saying that he could still remember that day, says when the mine went off,you could see the kids body exploding, some of it landing on a tree that must have been near, the first day he was there, damn.

I have served as motorcycle escort duty for the moving wall through KS, OK, and TX. As many as 500 Ex Vets and American Legion Riders preform the escort duty, at their own expense. It is an honor and privilege. Sadly age has ended my days of honor guard.
My last Rolling Thunder was 2009.As I touch the names of past friend, even on a day, with temps in the 100's the granite is ice cold to the touch, and even @ssholes can cry.

Good post Steve.....................
