Neat post Dallas.
Tools? I always carried my own.
Any Company I ever worked for, always supplied me with a "Bucket Apron". Most times, I just took my "Apron" out of my bucket, and put it in my "Lockup" Linemans Bin. And "I" had the only Key. It was MY Truck.
I use to carry a "secret" extendo stick in my bucket. They use to be Legal...but somehow...they got banned. Fu$k that shit. Least where I last worked.
It was a 3' collapsable, "Switch Stick"...extendable to 9'. MAGNIFICANT Tool!!!
Anybody still ableto use this Great Tool? It's the same type of "extendable" stick, troublemen use from the ground, and those, extend to 35 Ft.
As for the "dirty unorganized, trash filled Truck". Nope.
As I said...I had MY Truck. and in the event it HAD to be used by somebody else...Respect, was the thing.
When I come back, and get on my truck...I expect it to be...the way I Left it.
A little extra shit maby...if it was Storm work.
My Truck, was a personal thing. Like my House.
One in the same.
We carry the colapsable? fuse stick on all of our buckets, as far as I know they are legal.

Ya'll ever just get tired of waiting and buy your own tools? I'm to the point now where I'll just buy my own bucket apron, hand tools, etc. To me your as good as your tools. I've seen some guys that can "do it all" with a pair of kleins and a screwdriver. Hell I leave there is going to be an empty truck with a copy of my receipt -- you break it; you bought it. :D
On the subject of tools for anyone that works trouble; a killer is having a good long stick. Had to borrow a guys truck stood out in the middle of a major road trying to put a barrel in a cutout; get to the last section of the stick and the section pulls right out and 30' of stick comes crashing to the ground. Boy I felt like an ass...I don't know how people do it.
I won't even begin to go on about keeping a dirty unorganized trash filled truck either. Maybe I'm just OCD.
I use one of the triangle extendo's from Hastings. I think it works better in the wind and the buttons always line up. I've got to agree about a clean truck, then everything is where it belongs. The rope lights in bins sure have made it nice working outages at night. We get out tools pretty quick when we need them. And usually we have new ones on the shelf.

don't see too many of those skin removing sticks around my outfit. they are less flexable in the wind, but they can take chunks out of your hands when retracting. large chunks.
