I wonder how much it varies within a state? I know in Michigan, there is a big difference between the munis, IOUs and Co-ops. They are all getting closer togetherbecause of regional transmission groups. And the difficulty of building new power plants raises everyone's cost.

For cripes sakes, how the heck do you think you all get paid? Don't make it about politics for a change. Grow up.

To each its own, but I'm not figuring out what makes it so interesting? Maybe you could explain what you find so interesting, Southpaw?

just the diversity, and the difference, and trying to figure out why?
look at the differences of the states. which are all just avergages of the particular state.
what makes the kwh rate so different per state? hawaii, i understand, they are an island.
connecticut? i just don't understand 19.25 cents a kwh. no more than i understand 7.99 cents per kwh in idaho. i'm actually thinkin it has to do with population of a state, and a particular states logistics. seriously though, connecticut...more than new york state?

I haven't done it yet, but I'm going to search if there is any information about the generation sources for those states. In Michigan, dams are being removed, a cheap source of power. Most of the coal-fired generation in our state is very old and dirty by today's standards. There is quite a push for natural gas generation because we have a lot of it here.
