Christmas Bonus Anyone?

Voted on the poll,i voted no,because im kind of betwween jobs right now.But when working for a large utility we used to get a 15 dollar certificate.It was meant for a turkey but you could use it anyway that you wanted too.While working for a contractor ,they would give the working foreman a bonus if you worked there a year.Now if he was really fair he would split some of the money with his workers.You might laugh but it is x-mas,and I had just one other Jy with me.And he was really a good lineman,he came from the Austin area,his father was a lineman.But they would give the working foreman 2,000 dollars,so since it was free why not share.Saying that the contractor would have a really big cook-off,they hired some other company to cater.Ive seen cook-offs but never one like they had,you name it and they had it.This by the way was on company time.Now, with the utility the guys came to expect the 15 dollar certificate,and if they thought they wouldnt get one a pecliar year they would cry murder.It was nice to get one,but i felt blessed that I had a job,and making around 100,000 a year, the 15 dollar certificate meant little.I could go buy a whole cow if i had the room.We all know who gets the real bonuses,and it would be interesting to see that info,but i dont thank santa will allow that to happen.

Ummmmmmm I werked fer 34 years with a utility n never ever got a Bonus for either Christmas or Thanksgiving. When I quit and started werking outta the local as a contractor I got one every year. Wuznt but $500 but it beat a poke inna eye wiffa sharp stick.

Thats pretty cheap Mr.Poot,seems like the contractors would give you the shorter end of their stick,I got it now,the big utilities dont have the funds.So instead of getting the short end of a stick,you got the thorns,merry x-mas Poot.

Well they did mention that not everyone got one and not to publicize it.And truth be known I spect it was just for people that they valued purdy highly either for their work ethic or their knowledge. I dint do much work but I did know how kause I seen it done before.

We don't get a bonus ... :( only ever got a bonus in new zealand. We got 10% of our wages as a bonus at christmas ...... But I think they held back on our money during the year. So it wasn't really a bonus , it was more like a saving scheme ....... ;)

39 years and counting....us union scum at the utility dont get no bonus's

We get a bonus, but it comes in June. Believe it or not the union was against the whole concept. Management has been getting a bonus for years but the union thought a preformance based bonus was unfair. They finally gave in a few years ago. The bonus is based on lost time accidents, Outages, Durration of outages, Man hours on major jobs, personal evaluations... that sort of thing.

Basicly it amounts to an extra paycheck a year.
