How strict is your outfit, company,or contractor concerning steel toe boots. When I was younger they couldnt be worn, and now its required............mine feel like Herman Munsters boots.....I mean they are really heavy, working in the mud makes it worse................Ive always rotated my boots, but wore the non steel toe boots way more than the steel ones...............now of course if you have a foot related injury, you might have wanted to wear the steel toe boots...................but does any company really check what your wearing?

how long have you guys been required to wear steel toes, we can get away with regular boots but they have gotten way more strict on other things like no we have to have lanyards for our tools that are tied to our belt so you cant drop them so now you have 4 tool lanyards and 2 tie of lanyards the safer they try to make it the more dangerous it becomes.

Steel toes are mandatory at my utility. They also have to be CSA (Canadian standard assoc) and Electrically rated (OHM tag). I've never worked at a job up here where they weren't required.

I kind of find that interesting,I would think that being an Ironworker.........the industry or the company would be especially strict, due to accidents concerning the foot........I cant really remember how long we have been required to wear steel toed boots........maybe 10 years or so........but your comments on the lanyards, ect is sounding familiar to me ,we are kind of seeing the same thing....................but while I have you.............tell me how often you guys have seen Osha get involved in an accident, were they only involved in fatalities.
