I will most likely ever hire into a power company as a lineman and have kind to have grown to love the traveling show as I call it.

My children are at the age they can fend for themself a bit makes it easier to hit the road.

I love actually living in different parts of the country for a few months at a time and I believe that 99.99% of all people are good people, Before I did line work I repaired CNC machines and robots all over the country.

I Really like steel transmission tower work and I am going to seek that kind of work out the rest of my life. Wood is cool but I like the steel.

What is your goals?

Get on with a company to learn distribution and transmission... but if i had to pick one or the other, distribution would be better IMO.

You will still be too young to retire Charlie. :D

The hubby says he will work as long as he can. As far as a goal, few short years ago he mentioned a superintendent job.

My goal is to become a highly skilled journeyman. The location I would like to learn is California Los Angeles area......I would like to work for a power company or contractor...the steel lattice tower work interests me as well. So either situation is a priority for me.

Work goals:

I have always wanted to learn hot sticking.

Bare handing is the reason I got into this trade. It may take more than 10 years for this one, but I really want it. Helicopter, barehand bucket, ladder work, I want to do them all.

Transmission hot sticking is on my list as well.

I would like to work on a trouble crew at some point and someday run my own trouble truck.

I want as much education as I can get, I want to be the guy that is respected for his knowledge and skill and teach the younger guys. (when I'm older).

This seems like a tall order, but California has it all.. :)

The hubby says he will work as long as he can. As far as a goal, few short years ago he mentioned a superintendent job.Yeah you are probably right, but we went through about 15 years of the 2 man crew can do everything mentality and it weighed heavy on my back, shoulders, elbows, etc etc, but I have it a lot easier nowadays, there ain't no telling how long I might be able to work if my body holds out.:D

Goals give us something to look forward to and work towards, as far as linework in the next ten years....

I'd like to learn more about all aspects of the trade and ways of doing things more efficient, safer, and easier on personnel.

Improve my communication skills. I have been known to be pretty blunt and can, at times, be misunderstood due to the manner in which I talk. I was not raised in by a "lovey dovey" type of parents, and 4 years in the USMC and 2 years contracting only helped to reinforce being short, to the point, blunt, and at times honest to a fault.

Learn more about the engineering aspects about why we do what we do, how to make our systems stronger, more reliable, etc.

Do transmission work, hot sticking, barehanding. I did some dead transmission work as a contractor and always wanted to do more and do hot work on it.

Develop a new tool that would make me millions so I am not working 10 years from now. (okay...thats probably a dream, but I like it :) )

Overall I want to still be doing the best I can, as safe as possible, and ensuring that I am judged by what I am willing and capable of doing and not by what I refuse to do.
